Programs / scripts
Cyburbia is powered by several commercial and open source PHP-based programs, most of which have been modified to work together to offer user and data integration. A single account can be used for the Cyburbia Forums, Cyburbia Gallery and PlanningWiki.
vBulletin, a commercial message board script offered by Jelsoft Enterprises Limited, forms the core of Cyburbia. vBulletin directly powers the Cyburbia Forums. Cyburbia usually uses the most current release version of vBulletin.
vbDrupal is a fork of the open source Drupal content management system, modified to be tightly integrated with vBulletin. vbDrupal generates the front page of Cyburbia, Site of the Day, Post of the Day, Voices, and information pages such as this, and also powers the the RSS feed aggregator.
The Cyburbia Gallery is powered by Photopost, a commercial image gallery and photo sharing program that is also integrated with vBulletin.
PlanningWiki is powered by Mediawiki, the same program that powers Wikipedia. Mediawiki is modified for integration with the vBulletin database.
The Resource Directory uses In-link, a commercial hierarchical directory script. In-link is not integrated with vBulletin. PlanningWiki will eventually replace the Resource Directory.
As of 2005, all pages on Cyburbia are dynamically generated. Large files such as images are stored on the server's filesystem, but most other content is stored in a MySQL relational database.
Hosting
Cyburbia is hosted on a Linux-based virtual private server (VPS) from Liquid Web. The server is located in Lansing, Michigan USA.
