A pair of geese had babies... 6 of them. Now the spring drama begins. The resident swans are very territorial and they will spend their days trying to kill the baby geese. It is horrible to watch. The Swans just break their necks. If the swans don't get them...the snapping turtles will try and get them from below. Who said life on a pond was golden?
Yesterday I had to cut down a big japanese maple that didn't survive the hot dry fall we had last year. Only one branch was in bloom this year. It was really a beautiful tree. After it was gone, I thought it would seem that something was missing and I would have to replace it soon. Ironically. it actually opened up the yard and provided more balance to the property. It is 50 degrees this morning at 6:30 am. Having coffee in the travel mug outside with the old dog.
