Well for me theres no other place to study in like New York City!!!
I studied in London a couple years ago and it was highly inspirational. I feel like there's something for just about everyone there. I was lucky in that it didn't rain much in 2006 though.
Lawrence, KS seems like a pretty kick-ace place to me.
Chapel Hill, NC is pretty nice this time of year!
Minneapolis/St. Paul was a nice combination of urban, cheap, and different for me (coming from New England). I loved having the university right near downtown as well. And lots of coffee shops for "studying."
Anyone have experience with Portland?
I would love to study there. Actually, I did an independent study in Portland as an undergrad...very cool place! I highly recommend it. Does Portland State have a Ph.D. program in planning?Originally posted by ich bin ilya
They do.. I loved Portland, and thought pretty highly of the school in general - the people, though, I was less impressed with, and by the end of my degree I just wanted to get away from all of the ultra-militant extremist socialist ecoterrorists and such - and i'm reasonably moderate.

Why? All work and no play makes jack a dull planner. Just don't go outside during daylight hours between May and September or your shoes will stick to the sidewalk...

Stockholm--they built a city on 20-some separate islands, how can you NOT appreciate that?
As an American, it also has a little bit of the wet-dream factor. Of course it is the people that enable the urban style which pretty much every American city would shoot down in flames.
Edit: KTH isn't an AICP accredited program (duh)--I was studying Env. Engineering with an emphasis on built envt. there, for clarification.
What luck! A random assemblage of words never sounded less intelligent.
I won't pretend to be objective here but Toronto and Montreal are great places for students--highly regarded program, loads of amenities, great cultural scene, not to mention cost of living wise they are in the bargain pit of cities (well, presuming the loonie takes a plunge)
Now if only Canadian schools can do something about their attitude problem...
