Well, if you'd met anywhere else, I'd have come and stayed awhile... But I'm not exactly alone. If you'd met in the Quarter, I could have left for awhile, but taking a ferry and all that was too much. Besides, I'm a godless Irish heather married to a witch, so partying with me too long can really corrupt your soul.

So, the question is... are people getting together again? I'd really love to see y'all! I called Planderella, and she said keep her in the loop! We're going to the Dungeon tonight, it's on Toulouse twixt Bourbon and Royal... It opens at 10:30, so before that, wherever!

The Dungeon was on my list of places to check out while I'm here, so I'll look for y'all there tonight.

Tomorrow morning (Mon.), I'd like to either go walking through the French Quarter or take the St. Charles St. Streetcar through uptown up to the Tulane area. Anyone up for joining me?

There weren't any sessions I wanted to go to this morning, and I didn't buy any tickets to the awards luncheon, so instead I walked the riverwalk and then meandered through the French Quarter, then hopped the St. Charles Ave. Streetcar at Canal & Carondelet and toured the Tulane and Loyola-New Orleans campuses. Afterward, I explored the trails through Audubon Park and walked through the Garden District, exhausting my phone's memory with photos. All in all, good times. The only thing that would have made it better would be if my wife could've been here with me.

Everyone is good. However, it did get a little ugly when our waiter today did not bring TO his lunch.

Saw the aftermath of it... lots of blood. A guy I know was across the street when it happened. It was a really high traffic corner for something like that to happen (corner of Royal and Canal, if you are wondering).

I hate where the conference hotel (Hilton) is, BTW. I still have to walk three blocks to the actual conference center and I'm a solid eight blocks from anything too interesting. Had I known, I would have just gotten a hotel in the FQ and taken a trolley to the actual conference center each day.

Texas reception was pretty good and crowded tonight at the Ernst. Got to see some really untalented dancing. Texas reception wasn't as good as in the past, but still smoked the others I heard about.

Also, for those of you keeping score, I talked with one of the chapter presidents, who indicated that the total registration was around 4,300. Not too bad, and she is not the type that would inflate numbers (she is NOT an APA apologist).

Yeah I am sure...given the cheapo registration rate plus being in UNO's back yard. I am sure Boston will see a ton of students next year given all the planning programs that are within driving distance.

I actually won a giveaway from a vendor! My Taste Of New Orleans basket was just delivered to my office. Awesome. It even came with beads.

Congrats on the win!

It was great meeting all of you! Hope to see y'all next year in Boston. However, I don't think we will have the open container law in Boston.

Got home last night. Still processing what I experienced the four days after the conference and will post later. One thing I will tell you, other than police, I saw NO obvious governmental action on the streets in the lower 9th, St. Barnard, and Slidell.

Are our resources better utilized in the Middle East?

I noticed that as well. The Quarter had police, for obvious reasons and there were those 2 shootings in the Quarter while we were there.
