If you were working out of state, how much would you sacrifice to take a job in your home state, closer to family/partner, etc? Would you sacrifice a lower title (entry level vs mid-level)? Lower pay (taking into account cost of living)?...Or, would you wait it out until the right offer came along?
* Keep in mind that maintaining current knowledge of your home state's laws/rules and staying relevant is pretty important.

Interesting topic. In order to leave a geographical area i despised in California, i took a lower title, lower pay with better benefits, and traded my low cost of living for a very high cost of living area (however, lower pay in the sense of I would be making less if i worked full time at my previous employer. Since i was not even working and when i was it was less than 32 hours, it sort of seems like a pay increaseOriginally posted by kltoomians
) i took the plunge. I have been extremely happy to move back to a place i fell in love with during my undergrad years. My family loves it. It has rejuvinated me both at work and at home. I am learning a lot about the public and best of all, I am truly content and happy. That to me speaks more than pay and a job title.

Depends...more than likely no because i would have never applied for a job with a lower title, but given the economic circumstances i did. This area just happens to be an area my wife and I have loved and always wanted to live in.

I left my life on hold to work out of state following a layoff...bf is finishing his degree back home. I visit regularly...but the lifestyle is getting old. I hope things change soon.
