Description of Work

This position (based in Raleigh), will provide planning assistance to
municipalities, counties and economic development organizations
primarily in the Central Regional Office service area.
Responsibilities include: preparation of land use plans, zoning and
subdivision regulations, and other planning management studies, as
well as technical support and leadership for projects involving
economic development, infrastructure development, growth management,
downtown vitality and information technology. May provide support for
municipal incorporation studies as needed. Travel to communities
including night meetings and highly proficient written communication
skills are required. Position reports to the Division of Community
Assistance Chief Planner in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of urban design skills working with Photoshop, Sketchup, and
other graphics software would be beneficial.

Training and Experience Requirements

Master's degree in planning curriculum, supplemented by courses in
public administration or a Master's degree in a public administration
curriculum, supplemented by courses in planning, and sufficient
planning, and management experience when combined with the Master's
degree equal three years; or college degree and three years of closely
related planning and management experience; or an equivalent
combination of education and experience. Degrees must be from
appropriately accredited institutions.
