How (or why) is Santa already out and about this year? I haven't seen him around here, but I've seen children-on-Santa's-lap pictures posted on Facebook already.
The warm weather we had over the week-end got a lot of people to get their outdoor Christmas decorations out early. Me, I'm still doing yard work!

I have seen yards & house X-mas displays on .
Christmas is kinda my holiday... I celebrate early and often. My wife has somewhat hurt my buzz by saying I can't do anything Christmas until after her birthday, but I still get out before Halloween....

I am debating putting up the Christmas tree since the baby will be trying to pull it down every 5 seconds and we are going to Massachusetts for the holiday. I am off the 24th & 25th, the 31st & 1st. I will have 16 hours of comp to take at that time so yeah, I think I am out from December 22nd to January 2nd. I am ok with that since from March to November I put it 40+ since it's the building season.

I am too. I still have leaves to rake and flowers to plant. Having a newborn has significantly diminished my ability to do garden and yard work in a timely fashion, but he is so squeaky and cuddly it is hard to go outside on the weekends and work when I can just cuddle and squish with him.
I am super excited to be home for Christmas this year! I hope we get several feet of snow and everyone in the city puts up lights! We are going to a lights display in a few nights at the zoo.![]()

How do I remember all this useful stuff??? Here's a UK mums' message board with more good ideas (put it in the corner, affix to wall, attach tree to ceiling for safety, get some unbreakable baby ornaments and hang down low. Etc.).
Bah humbug.
It's too darn early to think about Christmas.
You are all scrooges.... enjoy the season people. Joy and happiness isn't a bad thing! Neither is commercialism... at least for our country's health...

My immediate family (mom, dad, and sister) are flying down from Chicago for four days and I'm giving them a Texan Christmas. My parents have been here before but not my sister. I'm taking them down to Galveston for a day trip, and probably an afternoon in the museum district. It's still a month and a half away but I'm already shopping for a new Christmas tree. I'm swamped at work at least through the end of the year if not longer so I'm taking care of the big things now.

We need to get a fake tree this year because of the allergies of our oldest child. So him and I will be going to several places on Friday in search of the perfect tree and will be putting it up the morning after Thanksgiving. The wife has a rule... no Christmas stuff what so ever for our family until the day after Thanksgiving.
We will be spending Christmas at my dad's house in the UP this year and I am taking the week between Christmas and New Years off... mostly.

Santa landed at our mall this past weekend. Ridiculous!
We have no big holiday plans. I am still trying to convince my wife that we should host our Christmas gathering instead of going all the way to her parents or aunt and uncles (plus we are more centrally located for everybody else).
I generally don't go anywhere special or do anything interesting during the holidays and usually like to work through them because there's nobody here to see my slacking. However, my employer always allows us to take off as much time without pay as we want (and as our supervisor will allow) after about the first week of December through the first week of January. There are a few people in our office who will take the entire period off and I always say I want to but never bother requesting it. I think this year I am going to take all of those Mondays and Fridays off and have a bunch of very long weekends. Hopefully we get some snow during the holidays.
Our daughter was about 17-months-old last Christmas and I was worried about the her and the tree but I don't think she ever really cared about it. She was old enough to crawl and pull her self up (but wasn't doing any walking yet) and I don't think she ever did more than glance at the tree and it was in the room that we do most of our playing in. Now she is at the stage where she likes to run all over the place and do everything herself so it will be interesting to see how the tree fares this season.

My aunt is having Xmas for my mom's side of the family. My wife's grandparents also invite everyone to their place each year.
However, we will probably celebrate Xmas with my wife's family the week before since her sister and her sister's husband will be on-call for work on Xmas. So we'll probably just go to my aunt's on Xmas day.
The wife and I are debating leaving the day after Xmas for a quick trip just the two of us for 5-6 days.
Any suggestions??

Montreal.
It's a bit of a hike but definitely doable from this area. And as long as you're not driving in a blizzard or ice storm, it's not bad. I've been to Montreal in the summer and the winter and prefer it in the winter. There are lots of great restaurants and museums and some nice little shops.

ZG had me drag the decorations down from that very, very high shelf in the garage this afternoon. I hate climbing a ladder. It makes me nervous.
