New kitty needs a name

In the putting your pet to "sleep" thread, I mentioned my temporary fostering of a baby kitten from the humane society. This stop-gap measure was intended to help my surviving kitty and me with our sadness at the transition.

A couple weeks later, the agency rang to ask did I want to release my houseguest into one of their adoption events. Nope, she's a keeper.

And now she needs a name, besides Yoursocute or Stopit or Nobiting or Babykitty.



The big blond is Thumbsie (extra digits fore & aft)


And she's a Democrat.


Although there's a striking resemblance to the Chessie kitty, for 21 years a cat named Tessie was with me. Would prefer to not repeat the name sound. (Been considering something similar to Night Train since that's when she decides to get weird.)


Oh, and it has to fit well with "kitty, kitty, kitty." None of this Piscacadawadaquoddymoggin stuff.

My little girl kitties over the years included Smokey, Sasha, Sheba, Skittles, and Saidie. I also had a Squirrel (ie, Squirrelly). There was also a Midnight and a boy named Skunk, but she's the wrong color.

One of my friends has Tinkerbelle (her daughter named him before she was gender-conscious) and Panda. Some of the neighborhood felines with suitable names include Blue, Precious, Sophie, and Lily.

Carbon-dated her to about August 24, my late mama's birthday, so I was looking for a Louisiana connection. Recalled the sad story about the tiger encaged at the truck stop (I saw him once) so I looked up the town. Uh, no.

Kitten in Hungarian is cica. Not bad. Pronounced see-ka. In Finnish it is kissanpoikanen.

One of the things I noticed and then picked up when living in NOLA(ooooh, how about NOLA?) was how people used "Boo" as a term of endearment. She could be your little Boo. (Or Boo-Boo but then you run into the problem of Honey Boo Boo.)
