Who is the character of your state?

It seems like there is usually at least one individual, frequently a governor, who everyone recognizes as a state character. In Texas, it was Ann "Silver Spoon" Richards, now it's Rick "Good Hair" Perry. In Michigan, it might be Ted Nugent. Who do you think is your state or state's "character"?

    Basketball Coach at IU.

    Current - Tom Crean
    Past - Bobby Knight

Most people can name him over who is the Governor.

I can assure you that more people care about Crean than they do Pence.

Don't forget Governor Jan "Finger Wag, SB1070, decapitations in the desert, Phoenix is the Kidnap capital of the US" Brewer.

I thought governors were supposed to promote the state.

    Ted has moved to Texas.

How about Iggy Pop, Stevie Wonder, Bob Seger, or George Clinton?

    Micheal Moore or Tim Allen?

Madonna or Diana Ross? (both turncoats who would rather shoot themselves than to admit Michigan beginings)

Of course I'd be remiss not to include Kid Rock or Eminem who seem to include Michigan or Motor City references in every song.

And who can forget our pride and joy? The Insane Clown Posse!

I would say either Kid Rock or Eminem.

    Maybe Justin Verlander.

Spraying Faygo all over, clown makeup, stupid lyrics....that pretty much sums up the whole Michigan experience.
People will miss that it once meant something to be Southern or Midwestern. It doesn't mean much now, except for the climate. The question, “Where are you from?” doesn't lead to anything odd or interesting. They live somewhere near a Gap store, and what else do you need to know? - Garrison Keillor

DetroitPlanner has a way of working Insane Clown Posse into any discussion about Detroit or Michigan. I think he's a closet fan.

You know that episode of The Twilight Zone where the guy goes coon huntin' with his hound and dies and then is saved from entering Hell by his dog's nose which can smell the sulphur? He's how I think of Kentucky.

For the record, shares in RyG opened at 29.55 this morning, but are down 3.25 since that post.
