Image Posting Policy: Formerly "When Juxtaposition goes bad, so very badly wrong!"

Warning this image link is to a very very NOT WORK SAFE SITE

add ".jpg" to the url and paste it in your browser to view the image - AT YOUR OWN RISK.

This is why pre-planning these things is so very important. Yes, it is from my state of Kansas.

    eG -
is worth noting that the website where you got the photo was not work safe.

    Not, exactly

Unfortunately or fortunately (I don't know), I've never visited the website where this is hosted. I found the picture posted on another web site and copied the properties here in to an {img} tag, and gave it no further thought.

And Iíll note for the record I didnít post a link to the site. You got there by opening the properties of the photo and pasting them in a browser. Not something I have control over or encouraged in any substantive way IMHO.

But you bring up a good point of discussion. If a Cyburbian posts a link to image is that person responsible for hunting through the entire site to make sure it meets a generally accepted level of PC and work safeness?

Now, I'm off to visit the site to see what the fuss is about.

EDIT - Yep that is a very bad web site that should not be viewed from work, unless you work for Larry Flint or the DNC, wait I'm being redundant.

When I navigated there to check it out I did notice an entry page warning of evil content within. It had a little birth date pass system to gain entry when I went to the root of the URL, which, I'm assuming you did. It even used some bad words and implied porn and sick #### found within. That was a clear warning.

So my thinking concerning having that URL show up on your log of accessed items from work, while not desirable in the least, this was still very much a self inflicted journey to porn town, the second time it would show up in your URLs visited log.

I'm am truly sorry if my posting the link caused you any grief and I'll be glad to edit the post to remove the content. I'll even testify at any eventual termination hearing that I was the party in the wrong.

Nevertheless, I'm not sorry for posting an image illustrating poor sign placement / positioning on a planner's website in the less formal area that I found on another "clean" bulletin board.

I'm going to move this post to an admin area and open it for discussion of our image posting policies.

I saw it and after JNA's post, followed the link. I also came to a warning page, typed in my birthday (January 9, 1903) and saw some pron before high-tailing it outta there.

My thoughts would be that if an image is posted that shows a URL with not-work-safe (NWS) content, then either:

    1) edit out the URL, or

    2) do not post if the URL leads directly to offensive content.

In this case, the URL leads to a warning page where two steps are necessary before you can enter. That entry page is not offensive itself. If you choose to ignore the warning, then it is really no different than when any image is posted with a NWS warning.
