I'm interviewing for a municipal position next week in Oregon. I live on the east coast, and the little bit of research I've done seems to indicate that the urban growth boudaries in Oregon are either God's gift to urban planning or will cause the fall of civilization as we know it.
Anyone have any first hand knowledge from a planner's perspective? I'm not looking for the political / ideological arguments; rather the practical stuff. What am I likely to run into day-to-day? What problems are there in implementation?
Apparently from the questionnaire I recevied and the interview questions I'll face the planners are under lots of pressure from irate citizenry, so I'm guessing that not everything is copacetic.
