    Teh Toast Thread

4:00 east coast checking in! One more hour to go!

How do you take your toast, lightly toasted, crispy or crunchy? Do like butter, PB, jem/jelly/preserves or something else on it?

    Moderator note:
sorry Hink, this one gets split from RTDNTOTO, whether you like it or not.

Rye bread demands butter and nothing else
    Dark pumpernickel needs cream cheese
Generally speaking good quality bread just gets butter so the flavor of the bread can come through, but cheaper sandwich style bread gets more substantial stuff like peanut butter (crunchy preferred), honey, cinnamon sugar, and jams/jellies/preserves.

People will miss that it once meant something to be Southern or Midwestern. It doesn't mean much now, except for the climate. The question, “Where are you from?” doesn't lead to anything odd or interesting. They live somewhere near a Gap store, and what else do you need to know? - Garrison Keillor

I like my toast - white, toasted medium, with butter and honey.

My favorite way to have toast is to cut the middle out and fry an egg in the hole. Toast the cutout part in the skillet with the toast and egg.

Just slap on some butter and I'm good. Sometimes jelly, but that's when the bread isn't good. The egg things sounds kinda good though!

I wonder if someone could rig a toaster to create the face of Lionel Richie.

I prefer dark toast; I don't see any sense in using an appliance to make what amounts to stale bread for light toast.

My all time favorite is toasted, buttered whole wheat with peanut butter and bacon. I'll often have toast with jelly or cinnamon sugar for dessert. Toast that's soaked up egg yolk is yummy. My mom made milk toast for us when we were kids, and she made it for my kids. That's what they ask her to make when they visit her.

I love rye toast and pumpernickel but homemade white, or sprouted wheat or oat are awesome too - english muffin bread is great too

I like orange marmalade the best, but I'll take honey, lemon curd, crabapple jelly or any kind of berry too (the meatier fig jelly like stuff, I prefer with cheese and crackers)

on oat bread toast, I love peanut butter

and I love cinnamon toast on homemade white bread

I like it highly toasted but not carbon

I like my toast like Elwood Blues. Dry, white.

I'll put stuff on it occasionally, but generally I like it plain.

love rye or wheat bread toasted too much, burnt really. Then I let it cool off, sometimes putting it in the freezer for a bit. Butter should be hard.

    Indeed.

I didn't have to cook dinner, so I had toasted brioche with butter and marmalade. I may have more after while.
