    favorite mom

In the spirit of the pending Mother's Day holiday, I found this online poll.

    Who's your favorite TV mom?

    Carol Brady
    Marge Simpson
    Marion Cunningham
    Claire Huxtable
    Peg Bundy
    Lucy Ricardo
    Harriet Nelson
    June Cleaver
    Wilma Flintstone
    Morticia Addams
    Edith Bunker
    Roseanne Conner
    Mama (Thelma Harper)
    Shirley Partridge
    Other (name)

I'd have to pick Marion Cunningham/Happy Days. She was just such a sweet mom but could also be a be-yotch...especially when she'd chew out The Fonz and tell him to "sit on it."

Edith Bunker. She's a sweetie who puts up with a lot, is a bit naive, but can stand up for herself when she needs to.

How could you not love someone with that peircing of a voice?! Ahhh-chie!
Dude, I'm cheesing so hard right now.

    Beautiful photo!

I would still have to go with Peg Bundy.

I'd have to go with Mama.

She was no wilting flower and truly kind-hearted while also not taking any unnecessary crap.
I'm sorry. Is my bias showing?

Thelma "Mama" Harper - one of my all-time favorites
Peg Bundy - "the laziest bitch in Chicago"
Louise "Weezie" Jefferson - just seemed cool and lovable to me

Favorite TV mom at this time would be Angie Lopez (Constance Marie), from "The George Lopez Show." Damn, that is one hot momma!

I vote for Kitty from That 70s Show. She is by far my favourite 'mom' character on t.v. from any era.

yeah, I used to watch the televised Comission and Council meetings to see when my Mom's meetings were out and time when my boyfriend had to leave the house. o

Kitty on the 70s show is the best mom ever, especially the brownie episode!

Has anyone ever noticed that Lucy hardly ever paid attention to Little Ricky? It was always, "Fred, will you watch the baby?", while Lucy and Ethel took off for another madcap adventure.

How come Laura Petrie isn't on the list?

I don't know about favorite t.v. mom, but June Cleaver is most like my mom. I don't think I ever saw her leave the house in pants until maybe 10 years ago. And I was 15 before I was allowed to have jeans. But I think Beaver and Wally had them younger than that.

When I saw the topic of this thread, I immediately thought of the mother from Home Improvement. I couldn't think of her name until I came across Dan's post. Thanks Dan. Yep, she'd be my favourite television mother.

And who would call Roseanne his/her favourite tv mom? Just a thought. No harm intended, though.

Another vote for Kitty. She just seems like she'd be a gin swilling sweetheart of a Mom to have in real life.

    My favorites are:

Peggy Hill, "King of the Hill", She just has no clue...
Claire Huxtable, She's beautiful, intelligent, likes to get it on, has a good job and will kick your a$$ if need to, just ask Vanessa.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned the beautiful, talented, funny Patricia Heaton from Everybody Loves Raymond:

SOME say the world will end in fire, Some say in ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice, I think I know enough of hate
To know that for destruction ice
    Is also great
    And would suffice.
