How high is the cost of gas for you?

I am sure that this has come up before... but it is all the rage on the news here... Regular gas (not ultra or premium) is now over $2.00 per gallon. The bad thing is it is the highest it has ever been here in the Kalamazoo area...

They are saying that gas hog type vehicles sales are way down, and the prices is expected to higher. Personally I am excited. Maybe more communities will look at alternative transportation, people will car pool more, and more people will walk or ride a bike to work.

What are your thoughts on the Gas Prices?

The Phoenix area is breaking records as well. Gas went up 5 cents over night. Our average is $2.15 for a gallon of regular unleaded.

I think we will continue to see our prices rise because of our particular blend of gasoline. Arizona also relies heavily on refineries based in California, so we use gas produced in a state with some of the highest operating costs in the country....

I paid $1.94 for the lowest grade (I think) available in Florida recently. For those of you paying $2 + for 85 octane out west.....ouch.....

We are paying NZ$1.22/litre which is roughly US$2.83/gallon for Unleaded 91.

About 1.99 here for regular, 1.79 for diesel, 2.09 for the good stuff. Boy, am I glad I didn't get a Mini after all (they prefer premium).

$1.64 to $1.89. I think it has something to do with the fact that we still produce some of our own oil and we refine I think most of the nations oil.

Anyway, I thought it was bad here...glad Im not from California (of course, im always glad Im not from California )

I've been thinking about biking it, but I would need to buy a bike. Also, there aren't many sidewalks from my apts. to downtown. I'm not a fan of biking in the street, especailly in a retirement community.

Fun with math! Currently prices are $0.80 CAD/litre. Which equates to $3.08 CAD/gallon or $2.22 US/gallon. And Alberta is one of the cheaper places in the nation... it's way worse in the Maritimes and in Vancouver.

Filled up yesterday for $1.84/gallon. The highest I've seen here for regular unleaded is $1.90. I'm sure it's much higher in the tourist areas.

2.15 in the city (at least in my neighborhood)

2.03 in the suburbs I have to frequent

$2.19 for regular. (hey, it's California).

But, all of my driving is "elective." I bike to work and can walk to most services. Ms Wulf likes to drive places, so we elect to drive with some frequency (usually a once a week trip equal to most people's daily commute).

I consider my travel to be mileage averaging. If I bike a mile for each mile driven, the effective price is a buck a gallon.

I agree with michaelskis, I have absolutely no problem with higher gas prices. $5/gal seems about right to me.

IMHO, plant a garden, shop the local Farmers Market, walk & bike more often, incorporate fuel economy into auto purchasing decisions, get on board with light rail, etc., and all will be just fine...... :-}
