New chapter in the book of H

Well, I told the folks at the Florida Lae-fest this past weekend but tomorrow it will be official…. I am moving to Tallahassee. My last day at my current job wont be until Aug 13 (as they have known for some time), but I am officially a Tally resident tomorrow when I move the last of my belongings up there after work. Luckily, I have a friend who is going to let me stay on his couch while I finish out my last few weeks of work. I will be attending FSU to pursue a doctoral degree in urban and regional planning. I plan to focus on developing areas of Latin America, which is along the same scope as my master’s thesis from UT (Tenn) in 2002. I will also get to teach an undergraduate level planning course as part of my assistantship assignment, which I am very psyched about doing.

In the past two years I have worked in and for the private and public sectors, enjoyed them both, but now I am college bound….once again.

So anyway, my messages will soon be coming from my desk at my home office in Tally (a.k.a. the new HHQ ).

I was not going to post this until I actually finished work and was ‘living’ in Tally, but since I have already packed all my things (except for this lap top and a pallet to sleep on) and am staring at an empty apt., I feel now is a good opportunity to write messages. Mrs. H is already in Tally.

PS. I had dental surgery today and am a little narced out on pain killers so excuse any weird grammar errors.

    Be sure to contact me if you need any help about Latin America and if you dare to come on a field trip around these parts, let me know. :-}

Thanks. I am sure I will get to Chile eventually. It is very high on my list of things to do. I have spent time in your 'beloved' neighbor's countries (Peru and Bolivia) and plan to explore Chile as soon as I can find a good excuse to go...

Wow H, you must be a brainiac. I could say you've hidden it well but I'm not sure my humour always translates that well.

Congratulations on the move - hope it all goes well.

Good Luck on your journey into academia!! You finally won't have to deal with whiney residents, pushy developers, idiot politicians, silly supervisors, etc, etc.

Watch out for those hot undergrads, though. I've heard they can be tempting.
I'm sorry. Is my bias showing?

So it's safe to make the news official now uh, Nerdboy.
Good luck with your PhD and also with trying to mold the minds of future planning monkeys.

Wow, I can't believe you're attending an ACC school.

Thanks all. I will gladly take anyone up on interesting case study suggestions. I will post my syllabus when it is finalized. SGB and JNA do you have a particular ‘entertaining’ cases in mind?

ZG Mrs. H says hello back and that she will see you and all in JAX at the proposed next lae-fest!!

RJ I will have to start thinking of a new location to put under my avatar, good observation. So far I have “cucarachaville del norte” or “El Capital”. But am not satisfied with either. hhmmm, I must think.

Oh, and "Dr. H" is many moons off from now, but I do like the sound of that...very James Bond.

EDIT: Yes, Biscuit, ACC. I have shifted my paradigm. You should make a road trip for the Clemson game.

If you post a draft syllabus, I'm sure The Throbbing BrainTM can come up with many relevant and irreverent case studies for ya.
