    The Cyburbia Political Party Convention - Platform Development

    Let's Create the Cyburbia Political Party & Platform Kids!

    Yes, you read that right. Let's consider ourselves a Political Party. We got diversity comming out our ying-yangs as well as motivated people with a passion for public service. So, why couldn't we beat the two party system at its own game?

    Steps
    1. Let's take nominations from the floor for members of the platform committee.
    2. We let the nominiees accept or decline their nominations
    3. We vote in a few days -let's say 5 people- and the top vote getters get to work.
    4 They caucus and produce a platform by Cyburbians and for Cyburbians as well as the rest of the nation.
    5. The members vote the entire platform up or down.
    6. Then we nominate a slate of candidates for office who promise to run on the Cyburbia Platform.

    Who do you nominate for the Cyburbia Platform Committe?

    Cyburbians - Feel free to campaign for any position you desire in the party.

    Note: The planks of the Official Cyburbian Platform should be planning related.

    Its like Boy's or Girl's State but for planning nerds

    I nominate TSC, 'cause:
    • She lives in a region of NY that already dominates state politics. Cyburban politics is a natural extension.
    • She's a sailor.
    • She grew up small town urban surrounded by rurality, and now lives/works the urban/suburban thing. She's America, people!
    • She's smart, and doggone it - people like her.
    All these years the people said he’s actin’ like a kid.

    Does this party involve a lot of consumption of ? If so, don't we already have something for that called "the great cyburbian laefest tradition"?

    I nominate Maister. I think his tireless commitment to waterfowl protection would be useful in crafting the party's environmental policy.

    I nominate Biscuit , who with 3.43 posts/day averages and double clube membership credentials clearly demonstrates greater devotion to the Great Cyburbian Cause and should take precidence over any wonky environmental type individual.
    People will miss that it once meant something to be Southern or Midwestern. It doesn't mean much now, except for the climate. Regardless of the platform commit members, I propose the following five planks:
    • The total eradication of kittens (of all ages) (oh, and ferrets) and all measures to circumvent PETA objections;
      Mandated full recovery impact fees;
      A 50 moratorium on the construction of new interstate interchanges;
      All referenced to "minimum" in zoning ordinances relating to distance measurements must be reversed to "maximums" (Example a minimum setback becoming a maximum setback); and
      The outlawing of rural water and sewer services.

    gee, wouldn't you rather advocate for actual sex? Are you going to give out free razors to shave everyone's palms?

    Michele, who would like to swear off kitten killing and get a different hobby with a male name.

    To be honest, I absolutely dispise cats.... period. That's why right after my divorce the ex gets my daughters a kitten. Now when I get the kids (every weekend), they have scratches all over their body and smiles on their faces. I'm like.... "How'd you get that terrible scratch?". And with a glazed over eyes and zombie grin they say, "Daisy scratched the hell out of me, isn't she sweet". I'd drop kick the beast from the 50 yard line if I could just get my hands on it.

    I am not a pet person so you have my sympathies. And, in that case, I suppose I might have to support your platform.

    I find myself in complete agreement with Budgie on the female issue and therefore nominate him to the Platform Committee.

    Sorry, Skel, but since this is the US election, I think we should stick to Americans. I nominate Tranplanner to represent transportation issues, and PlannerGirl since she is a beltway insider.

    When did Tranplanner move to the US?

    Maybe the U. S. of C. ("cyburbia") annexed his part of Canada in payback for when they annexed Maine.

    I was thinking that PG would probably prefer to be the party whip.

    Nah, I say we make the party international in scope. After all, how can we even begin to think about eventual worlwide domination without an international membership?

    JNL, being that you're from New Zealand, a place known for it's great number of sheep, perhaps you might be a valuable member of the platform committee. After all we will need help forming policy concerning both agriculture and rural sexual practices.

    And with this statement, biscuit attempted to revive the false myths about New Zealanders, and he would later come to regret this, because JNL made him pay dearly for the insult. biscuit learnt not to make sheep jokes around New Zealanders.

    Hey, EG, when and where's the convention? And which celebrities have you lined up to support the Cyburbia platform?
