Where did the Hair Bands Go?

A radio station here plays 80ís music from 12 to 1, and I thought I heard a Nelson song. This brought back a rush of memories being that when I was a little kid, my parents took my sister and I to a Nelson concert. We even had back stage passes, (thanks to my Dadís radio station).

But this is 2004, and we donít have a full head of 3 foot blond hair on any metal rock bands.... now half the time they donít have hair at all.

What happened to all the hair bands. (other than the state fair tours)

Gloomy "Grunge Rock" killed the Hair Metal movement. Then, of course, rap.

Now, all we have left is "hardcore" (political punk-metal), rap-metal hybrids and scary death metal/black metal for the fringe elements.

Can't say I mourn the loss of Nelson and Poison and Ratt and all that. I prefer the doomier stuff, myself.

It's living proof that, eventually, good taste will prevail. Having been in high school and college in the '80's, I lived through that rot.

I think I was in 11. When your that age, anyone who has a song on the radio is cool. And to make things better, it was free!

are Motley Crue, Poison and GnR hair bands? If so, they rock. I have heard more GnR since being around Tally than I did back in the late 80's.

Long live the hard rock'n hair bands.

A certain Aerosmith song comes to mind....
People will miss that it once meant something to be Southern or Midwestern. It doesn't mean much now, except for the climate. The question, ďWhere are you from?Ē doesn't lead to anything odd or interesting. They live somewhere near a Gap store, and what else do you need to know? - Garrison Keillor

I thought this thread was about WILLIE Nelson, and I thought the hair band meant his bandanna. Oh, it's Friday.

Some really good bands lived through the 1980's....after appearing in the 1960's and 1970's, and they are still good and still strong.....today.....

    Yes
    Rush
    Stones

Three (3) examples above don't just play "their oldies" at shows. They do new stuff and the older stuff.
