Yeah, that reminds me, I still have my online student portfolio...
I have some PDFs there of the final presentation, which my team presented to the neighborhood "stakeholders," and Senator Carl Levin. Files are about 10 megs each, but I forgot the URL Our project was called the Detroit River Metropark, or something like that. We designed a 20-acre park along the Detroit River near Mexicantown and Cobo.
Rediscovering Retail: Market Opportunities on Deroit's Eastside

I'm sorry. Is my bias showing?
With all the changes in trends, I am thinking doing a project or thesis on:
“Potential Influence of Smart Growth and Form Based Coding in Medium to Large Post Industrial Cities in the Mid West.”
Any tips on if a thesis will be better than a project, or any suggestions on my topic, research, or gathering data.

You might want to narrow the topic down. That is way too broad a question and too diifuclt to encapsulate in a thesis (unless you want a 500 page thesis)Originally posted by michaelskis
I suggest you chose to analyze the potential for applying Smart Growth concepts and Form Based Codes to a particular city or city neighborhood. That would be much more focused and useful.

We are discouraged from doing a thesis at the University I attend. Instead, most of us will take a week of comp. exams to graduate. Apparently, this is becoming more common. Anyone else hear this?
Mine was titled:
Disaster Resistant New Urbanist Communities: The Merging of New Urbanist and Disaster Resistant Community Paradigms to Create Better Communities
