Can anyone explain BOD's for me?????
BOD means the quantity of oxygen utilized in the biochemical oxydation of organic matter in five days, expressed in parts per million or pounds per day by weight or milligrams per litre.

So the larger the BOD, the thicker the water.......longer it takes to break down.........harder it is on the system???? RIght?
Yeah, that's the principal. Just don;t get me started on VOC's.

What is it you want to learn? Would it be easier for you to tour a facility and ask the facility manager questions?
BOD - biological oxygen demand - the oxygen used in meeting the metabolic needs of aerobic microrganisms in water rich with organic matter (as water polluted with sewage).
Try wqa.org/glossary for simple definitions of primary, secondary and tertiary treatment. I can't help with plant requirements or anything like that.
