This annoying message will appear on every screen until you register an account or log in. Membership is completely free, and we promise not to send you any spam.

The Cyburbia Forums is the oldest and most active English language urban planning message board on the Internet, and one of the small number of online communities where members enjoy intelligent, troll-free discussion. Cyburbia has hundreds of active members, yet is a strong community full of creative, friendly, and occasionally offbeat planners, planning students, architects, urbanists and other like-minded people who care about and/or help shape the built environment. Cyburbia Forums members enjoy a sense of community and camaraderie that is unmatched by any planning-related web site or listserv. We'd love to have you join us as another Cyburbian.

Have Threadspotting on your Web site!

Have the planner-ific Planetizen Newsfeed on your site? Provide even more interactive features on your Web site with the dynamically updated Cyburbia Forums Webfeed. The Webfeed, also called Threadspotting, displays links to the newest threads started in the Cyburbia Forums.

It's easy to display the Cyburbia Forums Webfeed on your own Web site. All you have to do is cut and paste some text.

1) Copy the following text.

Threadspotting - planning related posts
HTML code:
<!-- Cyburbia Forums recent posts -->

<b><a href="http://www.cyburbia.org/forums">Cyburbia Forums</a> - Threadspotting</b><font size=6>&nbsp;<br></font>

<table cellpadding=0><script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.cyburbia.org/forums/external.php?forumids=6,10,12,16,19,20,45,48,52,58,59&type=js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
<!--
 var max = 10;
 if(threads.length < max) max = threads.length;
 for(i = 0; i < max; i++)

  {
   document.writeln("<tr><td><ul><li><a href=\"http://www.cyburbia.org/forums/showthread.php?t=" + threads[i].threadid + "\">" + threads[i].title + "</a> <small>-&nbsp;" + threads[i].threaddate + "&nbsp;&nbsp;</small></td></tr>");
  }

//-->
</script>
</table>

<!-- /Cyburbia Forums recent posts -->
Kiosk - job announcement feed (optional)
HTML code:
<!-- Cyburbia Forums - Kiosk recent posts -->

<b><a href="http://www.cyburbia.org/forums">Cyburbia Forums</a> <a href="http://www.cyburbia.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=26">Kiosk</a></b><font size=6>&nbsp;<br></font>

<table cellpadding=0><script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.cyburbia.org/forums/external.php?forumids=60&type=js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
<!--
 var max = 10;
 if(threads.length < max) max = threads.length;
 for(i = 0; i < max; i++)

  {
   document.writeln("<tr><td><ul><li><a href=\"http://www.cyburbia.org/forums/showthread.php?t=" + threads[i].threadid + "\">" + threads[i].title + "</a> <small>-&nbsp;" + threads[i].threaddate + "&nbsp;&nbsp;</small></td></tr>");
  }

//-->
</script>
</table>

<!-- /Cyburbia Forums - Kiosk recent posts -->
2) Paste it into the HTML file of the page you want it to appear on. The scripts might not work properly if long lines are not broken up.

3) Tweak the code if you want.

That's all! Once the feed is integrated into your Web site, you don't have to maintain it. The content is updated automatically.

If you installed the script, please send an e-mail message to cybubria (at) cyburbia (dot) org, with the URL of the Web page where the Webfeed was used.

If you have any questions, or need any help, feel free to discuss the Webfeed script in this thread.

A suggestion Dan:

You need to insert a space between the words "Cyburbia Forums" and "Kiosk" in the second code. I've manually added it to the code on my site, generously advertised above.

Sounds like a good way to beef up my Solano Rail website -- more substantial than just a link but without the hassle and downside of trying to embed with frames :-S :

http://eclogiselle.com/solano/online.html

thanks Dan.

Is there an actual link we can use for the feed? I'm customizing my Google page at the moment and there is a way you can add your own feeds, though you can only enter a link and cannot enter HTML.

Dan, can you through that code into an xml or rss link? That way it could be imported into various rss readers more easily.

vBulletin provides rss feeds automatically (except when th option is disabled by the admin, which is not the case here). So the basic feed URL is http://www.cyburbia.org/forums/exter...mids=1,2,3,4,5

I guess it's possible to change some options, but I'm not too much into vBulletin boards.
