    New sports for the Olympics

THE OLYMPICS: Citius, altius, fortius, bubba-us
    By Kevin Horrigan
    08/22/2004

According to this columnist from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch
    #3 new sports are needed:

NASCAR, "would give the United States a clean shot a three medals."

Deer Hunting, " If they're going to have rifle and pistol competition, they should hold it in the woods on a cold morning with live targets and hangovers."

    and Bass Fishing

I do know it's time for some new Olympic sports that America can win.

Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here?

No. Just some parts wake up faster than others.

I would highly recommend a new metal competition in the gymnastics category -- freeform pole-dancing. Unfortunately, it doesn't meet the requirements of the OP, because the Canadians would clean up there.

Maybe some Midwestern County Fair contests, like throwing baketballs through hoops that are only 5 mm wider than the ball itself ("NO" PRACTICE SHOT'S! "NO" LEANIN'! "NO" DO-OVER!) or hog calling.

I think that one of the great signs of security is the ability to just walk away.

any competition at a county fair might also include....
    Pie eatin'
    watermelon seed spittin'
    biggest pig
    sack races
    hog callin' (sooooooweeeee!)

Would all make fine contests to put Americans in line for a gold.
People will miss that it once meant something to be Southern or Midwestern. It doesn't mean much now, except for the climate. The question, “Where are you from?” doesn't lead to anything odd or interesting. They live somewhere near a Gap store, and what else do you need to know? - Garrison Keillor

Cyburbia posting is already an international sport. Who needs the Olympics to sanction it?

Yeah, specially I don't think anyone wants doping tests around here Given the known cases of PUI (Posting Under the Influence) and PWI (Posting While Intoxicated) nobody wants to control that

PUI and PWI would not be the problem. It would be Post Count Enhancing we would need to worry about.

Based on concerns related to these items I guess "Caps" and "3 Man" are out?

They are both University Drinking games.

Caps - sit facing a friend, feet touching, open beer bottle near your crotches, place beer cap upside down on bottle. Flick caps at the other person's bottle. Knock off the cap and they take a drink, miss and you drink. Repeat until one person's beer is gone.

3 man is anothre drinking game involving dice and so many rules and rules that vary depending on who you play with that I could not explain them here. All I really remember is that you don't want to role a "3" as it makes you drink on every role until someone else roles a 3. i guess around here it has another special place in our hearts.

I'll add "give one/take one". A card game where you guess the colour of the next card, if you get it right you give the number of sips away to someone else, wrong and you drink the number of sips.

Speaking of new sports.... I took a double take when they started showing trampoline.....what next. Trampoline was pretty wild though.. but the athletes looked like old gymnasts. ....is better than rhymic gymastics for sure.
