Hi Everyone!

It has been two weeks of hell and 18 hour days but I have managed to get the Pub in good working order. I promised an update and pics, so here they are!

I have three taps up and running. Harp, Bass, & Guinness. Within two weeks I will be getting two additional lines up and running, Hacker Pschorer Wiess and New Glarus Spotted Cow. The selection of beer in the bottle cooler is the 3rd best selection in Green Bay.

I have a very cool staff. My doorman is all of about 155 pounds, is very non threatening looking individual and reads Friedrich Nietzsche & Schopenhauer. He did the industrial interchange picture in the picture gallery.

My head bartender has 4 years of art school under her belt and had work in galleries in NY while she lived there. Another case of significant others draging you down. But on the positive side, some of the beer mirrors are coming down and we are going to try and offer local artists (starving types )wall space if they want it. She sounds like she wants to do that project.

The restrooms are in GREAT working order now. People are VERY happy and the word is starting to get around town that the place is cleaned up again. Business is picking up already because of the cleanliness level alone. I passed the health inspection with flying colors yesterday. The swabs used on the glasses never turned colors at all!

THE PLACE IS NOW IN GREAT SHAPE! Come and have a beer.

BTW: ever see the Tuborg Ol poster of the guy standing against a fence on some farm path? It's summer and he's wiping his brow and you just know the guy is thinking "I need a beer". Great poster. Kinda reminds me of the standing guy artwork you have there.

One suggestion on the art, if it has prices on it, make sure the wait staff know how/have the ability to sell it. I went to an advertised art show and sale at a restaurant/gallery and wanted to buy a piece and was told to contact the artist directly. Guess what, the artist lost a sale, I made a special trip of 2 hours each way and am not planning on being in that town again for a long time.

Great Place!!

I like that it's upstairs and not in some nasty basement.

Beautiful interior - very "neighborhood bar" but not "trendy bar".

the building you're in is nice too. a nice simple "main street" building.

Nah, not true, the worst danger you may have is the risk of alcahol poisoning because you try to keep up with the Wisconsin girls (We won't let you compete with the male proffessionals! Its to dangerous for you )

Thanks for the art tip. My bar staff knows a lot more about art than I can dream of. We will work it out. 10 years ago, a wall full of beer mirrors would have been the bomb, but now it just seems tired.

You are coming for the right time, weekends the place is and liveley but never TOO packed (ok, sometimes, but it comes and goes). We have a bar hopping culture here, so rarely does a large crowd ascend the steps and sit all night. There is a ncie exchange of people all night long.

Punk & Rockabilly mostly on the jutebox. Nothing else is like this place in the whole fox river valley area. Not even in Appleton 30 minutes away. Cafe Esspreso downstairs is a VERY nice casual restaurant with good foo foo food (its not a steak and burger joint).

There are 29 steps from the first floor up. even though they are only 5 or 6 inch steps, you feel like having a drink after you reach the top.

Your new place sounds great. When this Bear is all better and I'm traveling north to be in my beloved U.P., I will stop in.

Probably summer, 2005, because I will be unable to go in crowds for about six months after my bone marrow stem cell transplant.

My wife is also a Bronco fan and will wear a Bronco shirt. I will have on a Steelers shirt. Of course, since it will be after the next Super Bowl, this Bear will be yacking unmercifully about finally "getting one for the thumb".
