Congrats DoD! It looks nice and cosy. Love the idea of supporting local artists.

    Great work!

Hey DOD, what's the nearest hotel to the 29 Steps? How far is the airport?

There are three of them within 3 blocks of me. They are:

Washington St Inn And Conference Center
    Holiday Inn GREEN BAY-CITY CENTRE
    Days Inn City Centre
    Regency Suites

The airport is about 6 miles away. Anyone arriving by plane, I could meat them at the airport to pick them up as I have a flexible schedule.

I would suggest that we set up a pilgrimage to go experience the stadium facilities at Lambeau Field. The stadium is used all year around and has multiple pubs and restarants in the area. It is also used for weddings and conventions. It will be paid off in 17 years, 12 years sooner than expected. It is an example of a stadium that does actually generate money for the community in which it exists.

We could also go to various places if I know what people want to see.

    Unfortunatly, no.

I don't smoke myself and it sometimes gets pretty thick up there. No smoke eaters either. Its an issue I will have to eventually address.

I'll bring the cigars. DoD, just get some fans in there, or one of those ionic breeze things you see on "As seen on T.V."

Smoking in bars go hand in hand. Glad there are some bars here that are still fighting the state. F-ing NYS . I guess there trying to pass something that would allow it again with smoke eaters.

They should of let the market dictate it in the beginning.

Oh, question, what is the legal capacity of the bar?

    99 People.

It never gets that packed. 60 people is litterally 3 deep at the bar.

    @ Dragon

No need to worry about cannibals here!

Unless of course you look like a deer! :-C

Im late to the whole discussion of Dukes new bar. I was an alcoholic there long before he ever envisioned of his current endevore of trying to bring Green Bay into the 19th century with an interesting bar . The previous owner, who was a friend of Duke and I had just purchased the bar. He had already decided upon a name for the bar which now escapes me when he had his first beer delivery. The guy looked at the name and said, you should have called it 29 Steps, as I've been trudging up the 29 Steps for years now. At that point, there was no choice, the other name was scraped, the promotional napkins discarded, and 29 Steps came to be.

How serendipitous. I hope I have the opportunity to make it to Green Bay some time in the near future.

    Hey There,

Now that I have entered into the fray of this Thread and admit I've know Duke way to long, I am going to put out a request from those that are decending into Distopia over the October 9-11 weekend. I am traveling from Pennsylvania up to Green Bay for the festivities that weekend and will be traveling via Amtrak. I will be arriving at the Chicago station on Saturday the 10th around 8 am and if i travel further, to Milwaukee around Noon. However, I need a ride from someone from either Chicago or Milwaukee to Green Bay. Unfortunately, with Wisconsin Transit as it is, I cannot get a bus to Green Bay that arrives any earlier than 10 PM at night! If there is anyone coming up on that Saturday, I would really appreciate a ride into town and since I lived in Green Bay for 15 years, there is probably very few inches of the city that I am not familiar with!!!!

I will be flying in on the evening of the 8th and leaving in the mid-morning of the 10th. I'm staying within 3 blocks of the 29 Steps. Rumpy, Duke, Chet - What are your plans?

I can arrange to be up there on Saturday the 9th, mid to late afternoon. I cant stay over unless I find someone to watch my dog.

If your cell # is the same as when you were here for the ITE conference I still have your number, otherwise PM me with it. I will PM my cell # to any cyburbanites that think they will be coming up.
