I'm doing a civic production of Music Man and I'm playing Mayor Shinn (a comedic role). I haven't done community theater since about 20 years ago (I suppose one could argue the Planning Commission qualifies as 'community theater' but that's a whole different thread!). It's fun for me cuz I really like to make people laugh, but it is an ENORMOUS commitment in terms of time. We've had rehearsals probably 3 nights a week (7 - 10:30) since rehearsals started 4 weeks ago and now we're having them 5 nights/week till opening night which is 2 weeks off! Work has been pretty cool about it and is having Michaelskis sub for me staffing the Zoning Board meetings. But damn, it's a LOT of work!!!
Being as planners are notorious for working evenings I'm curious if anyone else has ever been able to do theater, particularly while involved in the planning profession?
