Cyburbia's "Planner's Choice" Ranking of the Best Cities - Nomination Thread

It seems there is always some group out there coming up with their list of best places to live. So why not a Cyburbia ranking of the best cities?

Here is how it works. I'll open this thread up to nominations, with the following rules:

    1) Any Cyburbian can nominate a city. To keep the list managable, I will only accept three nominations per member. The city may be in the United States or Canada.

    2) To further reduce the number of possible cities (Hey, if each member nominated three unique cities, we could have about 5000 candidates!), only cities nominated by two or more members will be included in the poll.

    3) The nomination period will close at 5:00 PM (Mountain Time) on Friday, September 17, 2004.

    4) I will post a list of all the nominated cities in a poll. Voting will take place over the next week.

    5) If there is no clear ranking, I reserve the right to select the top ten or so vote-getters and conduct a follow-up poll.

As I said, this is the nomination thread. Post the (up to three) cities you want to nominate.

    Mine are:

    Madison, Wisconsin
    Boulder, Colorado
    Savannah, Georgia

Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves?
Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here?
Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?

No. Just some parts wake up faster than others.

Donk, what's so great about Saint John, NB. When I first came across this city, I was like :-0 and couldn't pick up my jaw bones because they splintered so hard and into many pieces from shock! And perhaps my eyes popped out too much!

I'm sorry. Is my bias showing?

Let's not be didactic in this profession, because that is a path to disillusion and irrelevancy.

I am a fan of big cities and my list probably reflects that:

    1. New York, NY
    2. Chicago, Il
    3. Madison, WI - Small city with all of the amenities of a much larger city.

I would nominate Boston, but I've never been there. I'm just so intrigued by it.

I was strategic in my nominations - my two other favs - NYC and Portland ME had already been guaranteed entry with two other nominations.

Logan is sweet, I stayed there during the winter olympics. Have you ever skied at Beaver Mountain? What a treasure (mom and pop) ski area and refreshingly empty... KUDO's to JNA on this one.....but it didn't make my top three.......someone else please nominate Logan.....

Frederick was beautiful, I remember. I love those red brick Pennsylvania and Maryland towns. (Lancaster, even gritty York)
