Is anyone involved with waterway tourism...regional tourism that uses water as the primary mode of transportation...such as the 1,000 Islands/St. Lawrence River or Rideau Canal Waterway in Canada. I am looking for some more examples.

While not navigable, try looking at this. It plays an important part in the tourism and marketing strategy of my current area
You may also want to look at the Canadian Heritage River System
Also look for links to the Trent-Severn Lock system(peterborough area) and maybe the Welland Canal.
Too lazy to beat myself up for being to lazy to beat myself up for being too lazy to... well you get the point....
Check out GORP's page on

GORP has profiled 31 water trails, many have links.
Oddball
Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves?
Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here?
Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?
From Kelly's Heroes (1970)
Are you sure you're not hurt ?
No. Just some parts wake up faster than others.
Broke parts take a little longer, though.
From Electric Horseman (1979)
Maybe there's info on the web about the Rideau Canal that stretches from Bytown (oops, er Ottawa) to King's Town (oops, er Kingston).
I'd go searching for the website, but I'm procrastinating from doing a heavy duty load of schoolwork! :-C
Fort Lauderdale is called the Venice of Florida. It has water taxis, etc. lots of water orientation... don't know any websites but suggest a general search.
You darn tootin', I like fig newtons!
There is the The American Canal Society http://www.americancanals.org/
dedicated to Historic Canal Research, Preservation, Restoration, and Parks. The society was formed in 1972 to promote the wise use of America's many historic canal resources through research, preservation, restoration, recreation, and parks. The society acts as a national clearing house of canal information and co-operates with local, state, and international canal societies, groups, and individuals to identify historic canal resources, to publicize canal history, activities, activities, and problems, and to take action on threatened canals and sites.
There many links to individual canals on this site.

Wow, downstate has its grip on you![]()
Try some of the local tourism websites for places along the Erie Canal.
A guy once told me, "Do not have any attachments, do not have anything in your life you are not willing to walk out on in 30 seconds flat if you spot the heat around the corner."

Another site is a Florida example .
Aside from the Valdivia River... there's not many other navigable rivers in Chile, either because they once were navigable and then got banked up, like what's happening right now in Valdivia, or thy were never navigable.
And being Chile a centralist country as it is, tourism ships in Valdivia are quyite rustic, and the central government does not have as a priority to keep the river navigable
Now, besides the rivers, we also have plenty of fjords and inland seas that have cruise ships going all around, chilean and foreign. A nice example of a chilean cruise line would be Skorpios. They're not very expensive but while aboard you have top quality service! They have several cruises down to glaciers, fjords and around the numerous uninhabited islands in the deep south.
Thanks for the info, I saved a couple of good links. I think of a waterway to be different than a water trail. Waterways are more of regional tourism utilizing all types of boats, but primarily motorize or sail craft. Water trails I think tend to be for hand paddled boats.
