    Hurricane Jeanne

What can I say? All of us on the FL peninsula are gearing up once again. I'm packing up the clothes, pets, and food to evac once again. I know other Cyburbians are in the path, too.

At the moment, however, I'm enjoying a glass of Chardonnay and playing on Cyburbia instead of packing. Must be hurricane denial.

At least when the electricity is down for a week this time, it'll be slightly cooler weather.

A couple of the tracking models keep the eye in the Atlantic. Let's hope they're correct. In any case, take care all.

For those who haven't seen this site, it shows the various model tracks.

The projected path and winds in our area, if it goes as projected, will be comparable to Charley, just coming from a different direction. 85 mph sustained, with higher gusts. Worse for those of you along the coast, of course.

I haven't heard that much about her either. Even my office isn't hopping as much as they have. We didn't get many supplies this time. Hopefully, that does not end up biting us in the butt.

You know you live in Florida if you're into hurricane 3 and:

Your cell phone has listings like:

    Darlene (home): 555-XXXX
    Darlene (cell): 555-XXXX
    Darlene (evacuation): 555-XXXX

    True story!

Gearing up here...fixing food that can be warmed up on the coleman stove easily...dropped the dog off at the vets to board during the storm...got sedatives for the cat this time....checking in at Cyburbia before I loose power...again. Got stuff like batteries, lamp oil, hand held battery operated color TV. Was without power 6 days last time...no land line for a week and half. Getting real tired of this s***.

I just cant fathom how frustrating this must be for everyone affected. And not just Florida, but the flood and mudslide prone states that get the aftermath.

And now, for your daily glurge pep talk that Dan will HATE:

Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves?
Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here?
Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?

    What I want is.....

    I WANT MY WEEKENDS BACK
Jeanne took yet another weekend away from us
I got a little wind and rain and 8 hours without power from 10PM to 6AM (no big deal) Frances appears to have weeded out most of the trees that were going to fall in my area.

I'm checking in quickly from a friend's house. We're out of power again. I think most of the real damage was on the coast and the inland areas that the eye passed over.

Our power went out at 10 a.m. Sunday. The biggest tree in my yard went down. Didn't come out by the roots; didn't snap. It was literally twisted off. It whacked another pine into my neighbor's roof, then smashed their fence and air conditioning unit. Anyway, no more damage to my house or my mom's but my brother's greenhouse business was virtually totalled.

Glad that the Florida Cyburbians are reporting in and are none the worse for wear.

I spoke to sisterceleste Sunday afternoon and she and family were OK. Seems like the phone lines/cell service held up much better in this storm, at least in our area, so it's been easier to check on folks.

All I want is the money back that I have had to spend for preparations. All was fine in the north of the state.
