My next door neighbor collects and restores train horns. A couple of weeks ago, he went to a train horn collectors' gathering at Horseshoe Curve, and mounted train horns to the roof rack of his Tracker. He test drove it around town first, and it was silly to think of that little vehicle carrying such a sound.
That would be a funny sight, and sound.Originally posted by kms
Those are great. I'd love to pull up to some A$$ who cut me and home my Train horn at him/her. I'm sure it freak them out. They are however a little on the pricey side. For 20 bucks you can get one of those air horns they use on boats or soccer games to signal the end of the quarter.
Aren't German and other European car horns tuned differently than in the USA? My VW horn is a claxon and will stop birds in flight (and in G major).
Back when I owned my old Chevy Cavalier...I thought about putting a horn kit in. But someone told me that you have to be careful because of the power drain from the air kit. I had a friend in college that installed train-like horns in some POS he drove. It was pretty funny when he hit the horn on campus.

Do they still make and sell "Wolf Whistles"? In the 1960's a lot of the cars that would be at Classic Car Shows today had these loud whistles.
A friend had one (1) on his '57 Chevrolet. We used to cruise through Toledo's lakefront neighborhood, Point Place, and blast that puppy.

Hey Dan, how do you like your Forester?
You get all squeezed up inside/Like the days were carved in stone/You get all wired up inside/And it's bad to be alone
You can go out, you can take a ride/And when you get out on your own/You get all smoothed out inside/And it's good to be alone
I don't know about accessories for Japanesse cars, but I do know about the latest accessories for trucks, such as these.
Insert something I was going to say here_______
I need a train horn and a cow catcher. Zombies are coming soon.
