My grandparents were born in 1920 and 1922. They died in 1994, 1996, and 2000. They always talked about the Sox and watched them every night, but never saw this. This is for them!!!

The curse was lifted by the sports guy for a local AM talk radio station. He went to Fenway a few years ago and brought back a little bottle of dirt from the infield. Well after the Sox went down three gams to NY, he went over to Kalamazoo Central High School ball field, and mixed the dirt from Boston into the Kalamazoo Dirt at the short stop position. The same spot that Derek Jeter played as he grew up in Kalamazoo.
Sox have not lost a game since that day.
Congratulations, to the World Series Champion Red Sox and their fans.
My Cardinals stunk up the place, that's for sure. Well, there's always next year.

Well congrats I guess are in order.
The Sox this year, the Cubs next year. Well, I can dream, can't I.
WOO - HOO!!!
The fictional curse is over! (and if it was real, I think Nelson broke it) Find some new chants New York!
Nice Green Monster Dan!
First the Red Sox, next the Maple Leafs!!!!! (once the NHL restarts)

I don't like that explaination because it means that Derek Jeter is this mystical hero who's mere dirt help bless the Sox. The best explaination I've heard is . . . pitching.Originally posted by michaelskis
You just know A-Rod and co. were watching this thinking they could have rolled over the Cardinals too. Maybe next year.![]()

I always thought 1918 was a chant that Sox fans should take over, kind of like how the Minutemen took over the "Yankee Doodle" song during the Revolution after the Redcoats wrote it as a taunt.
But now there's no need. Next year when I get to my seats at Yankee stadium to watch the Sox play (booty from a bet in the last round with a Yankees fan), I will be hooting the chant "2004! 2004!"
And that's a great touch on the front page- I love Wally.
That is cool. Haven't checked out the news. Wondering if the Sox fans rioted last night. As Dave Chappelle once noted black people riot when they are upset and white folks riot when they are happy.

It was not his dirt, it was dirt from Fenway cursing Jeter's past.Originally posted by Seabishop
Well, Michaelskis, I think your story was cool. I will share it with friends.

Enjoy it, and GO CARDS (2005)

Oh yaaa! The curse is reversed!
By the way, another added touch was the hillarious "God Bless America" by Scott Stapp.
"God bless Amurrrricurrrrr..." I'm surprised he didn't have his shirt off and the wind blowing in his hair.
Sadly, this is the first time in many years I haven't kept up with Series. Heck, I didn't even go to a single Bucko's home game this season. Could it be that I'm losing interest in baseball?!![]()

Question: Why did Fox keep showing pictures of Sox fans in New York bars? No bars in Boston?
A nuisance may be merely a right thing in the wrong place — like a pig in the parlor instead of the barnyard.
The Mayor *outlawed* it in Boston in order to reduce rowdiness post-game. Appears to have worked from what I read/saw.Originally posted by RichmondJake
Of course, no such thing would have been necessary in St. Louie.![]()

But New York bars?? How about some suburban Boston bars? Or up in New Hampshire?Originally posted by Gedunker
