8 days and counting till I'm an honourary Canuck!

Okay, I let the cat out of the bag in the Immigration thread, so I guess I should update you guys with the news. Instead of pushing the wedding back to 2006 to accommodate our house repairs (which are taking forever!), BME and I have decided to have a quick, small wedding in Victoria, B.C. next week. It has been a week since we made the decision, and in a week we'll be flying off to Victoria. Not quite an elopement, but not quite a 'real' wedding.

It will be just the two of us and my parents as witnesses. Weather permitting, we'll be getting married in a beautiful garden of a B&B downtown. Otherwise, it will be in one of the B&B's parlours. Honeymoon will be sometime next year.

Congratulations. I like the idea of the not a wedding not an elopement. Good luck with that Victoria would be an awesome place such an occasion.
You get all squeezed up inside/Like the days were carved in stone/You get all wired up inside/And it's bad to be alone

You can go out, you can take a ride/And when you get out on your own/You get all smoothed out inside/And it's good to be alone

    OH, CANADA!

Congratulations and best wishes and good luck and all that fun stuff.

We got married at the local county museum (former Carnegie Library) with about 6 people present. I have absolutely no regrets.

Congratulations! Some of the best weddings are the small ones. No pressures, just happiness. In fifty years you can throw yourselves a big celebration.

Congrats on both the Wedding and becoming a Canuck.

Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here?
Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?

Congratulations on your marriage. The quicker, smaller wedding seems like good news coming out of all the house problems.

    Congrats

I've heard being a Canadian isn't that bad.
I'm sorry. Is my bias showing?

    Congrats both Nerudite and BME!

Have you considered a honeymoon around these parts? Visiting Neruda's country seems nice... if $ allows This message was approved and paid by the Chilean tourism agency

Bravo! Sounds like you will have a memorable "not-wedding"--in the best possible way.

With that size of wedding, you'll be able to have an open bar an not be financially crippled as if you had it in BME's neck of the woods.

Congrats and welcome to teh real clube, teh hoser clube.

Here's two (2) reasons that I never became an "honorary Canuck".....

    Reason # 1
Never married anybody from the Great White North, eh.

    Reason # 2
Was in a bar in Toronto, trying not to act like a stoopid American, and I ordered a
    Molson Blue.

    Congratulations.

Congrats, but we really want to get ice fishing reports, cause if you are to be a true northerner, everybody knows you have to view winter as a big white playground rather than the half of the year you are stuck indoors. ESPECIALLY if you live in canada!

Thanks everyone... I'm really excited! It's been a flurry of activity getting ready for the big day. Just a week to go! I'm so glad that we are having the elopement type of wedding... it's taking so much pressure off of me and BME right now, and it's really exciting because I don't know *exactly* what to expect when I get there. It's almost like a surprise party for me, that I'm planning myself!
