I voted will take it. First, I don't pay my dues or for the exam. Second, most employers in AZ are "AICP preferred."
Yes, since 1996. If I every work for an employer who doesn't pay the dues, I bolt.

CHARTER member. But no "F" in front of the AICP...unless you count the f word that does mean "fellow." CPDC certificates since its inception (3 or 4), but with no APA in Kansas, I will probably not be able to keep up with continuing education...while national wants it to be mandatory.

Yea. Employer required me to take exam. Was going to do it anyway so long as whoever I worked for paid and continues to pay.

Yup... since 2001. I waited a long time to take the exam, which was silly because it was relatively easy.
No sir-e bob. And even though I'll be eligible to stand for the exam next year I doubt I will be taking it anytime soon,. My employer doesn't pay the dues and doesn't consider AICP membership upon hiring so there are only a couple of people here that have it. In fact, when you hear that a co-worker is studying for the exam, you can pretty much bet that they are looking to jump ship and get a job in the private sector sometime in the near future.

Yes, since 2000. I cut a deal with my employer at time and they paid for it. Like others, I waited too long before taking it.
Taking it next year. Work pays the dues and pays for the test. In addition, they pay for pre-test classes if you pass.

I don't think it is important but as a consultant my company and other companies want you to have it.

Me too, I think. I always seem to miss the application deadline, even with the extra exam being added in November. I don't see that applications are being accepted yet for the Spring exam. Am I missing something?
I kind of feel like without a Masters Degree (and having a Civil Eng. degree as opposed to a planning degree) I "need" the AICP tag to convince potential future employers that I am a capable planner -- pretty ridiculous, I know, as covered very well in other threads on this subject, but.......
