    Earl Finkler on TV

I was falling asleep with a bad cold in front of the TV and I happened to catch a show called NOW on the Discovery Channel (I think). Its a reality show where they help make people's dreams come true. A couple of guys from Oklahoma go to Barrow Alaska to hold the northernmost bike race. They showed a few clips of the local DJ, Earl Finkler promoting the race and I thought "why does he seem familiar?"

    That's one cold place.

Thanks for catching the show. It was a lot of fun to be in it, just reading the winter weather, like I do every morning on KBRW public radio.

Those two college students from Oklahoma were really nice guys, with a dream of holding a bicycle race up here in March---with howling winds and a wind chill of 28 below zero.

But they had fun and we in Barrow had fun and they made their dream a reality.
    Happy belated Thanksgiving everyone!
