    Snapshot 10/30/14

Halloween night will you have a (real or plastic) jack-o-lantern displayed at your house?
People will miss that it once meant something to be Southern or Midwestern. It doesn't mean much now, except for the climate. The question, “Where are you from?” doesn't lead to anything odd or interesting. They live somewhere near a Gap store, and what else do you need to know? - Garrison Keillor

    Neither.

    Where is your poll ?
    Oddball
Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves?
Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here?
Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?

Are you sure you're not hurt ?
No. Just some parts wake up faster than others.
Broke parts take a little longer, though.

what a good idea. If we got any trick-or-treaters at all I'd do that in a heartbeat. As it is, we don't even get any kids ringing the doorbell for candy.

We won't have either. Trick-or-treat is tonight in these parts....

None. No decorations, nothing. It's one of my top holidays, but I'll be damned if I give out free candy to some sniveling little brats. I'll keep the candy for myself and watch scary movies instead.

Also for Halloween I'm dressing up as Scrooge.

Nope. Meant to get a pumpkin but never did. Last year the pumpkin I got lasted for months before it started rotting. If I put it in the refrigerator I might have been able to get a second year out of it.

Real, 10 of them. (the kids insist that the dogs need pumpkins too.)

Once you have kids you learn Halloween is just one big candy exchange. You buy a bunch and give it to the brats and your bring home a pile to you. Just hope your neighborhood doesn't hand out hard candies and necco wafers. I know on my block is the guy who gives out kettle corn and root beer. A nice treat for the walk with the kids.

We have 6 real jack-o-lanterns outside that my daughter and I carved Monday afternoon.

I don't know if they will still be there on tomorrow because the bunnies and the deer have been gnawing away at them since then and some of them are looking pretty ragged.

I'm tempted to go buy some more to carve tomorrow before we go trick-or-treating.

Next year, I'm putting them up high on a shelf on the porch or somewhere else away from the animals.

I have two orange and one black plastic pumpkins with battery operated lights. While I appreciate carved pumpkins, I don't enjoy carving them myself. I will out out the other decorations in front of the house tonight. Didn't want them to walk away.

I do have a couple black cat, two bats, and two ghosts for lawn ornaments that I made. The kids like them. Especially the ghost you can throw stuff through his mouth.

Neither. We don't get trick-or-treaters. (< Watch, now that I've said that, someone will be knocking on the door tomorrow night )

I don't get kids either. I don't get it. I live in a pretty tight condo complex so you can probably hit four doors in two minutes. The neighborhood is one of the wealthiest in my county to boot. You think it might have something to do with the development being full of geezers?

Naw, I moved into an apartment this week. Maybe I'll go out to a bar or something!

I went to Walmart today to get a pumpkin. The selection was pretty poor, of course. So it is smaller than usual and has one ugly side but we will have a jack-o-lantern.

I used to love the apartments and condos as a kid. More candy per acre and we knew it!

I love carving intricate pumpkins... but I am lazy and time-pressed.. nobody appreciates it anyway.

Neither. I'll be too busy bringing my 3 month around in her little ladybug costume and begging for candy from neighbors (even though she can't even eat it yet, but we can ).
