    2005 Cyburbia Death Pool

OK, you've heard me talk before about my friends that run an annual "Death Pool". Here's how it works: Each year in December you throw $100 in the till, and pick 10 celebrities or notorious people that will die in the coming year. "Celebrity" or "notorious" people are generally agreed to be any person of regional, national, or world statute, and who's obituary or death notice makes it to a major publication. They can be hollywood, political, religious, etc, as long as they are commonly known and recognized. At the end of the year, we tally the total number of "hits" on each person's list, and the winner takes all the $$. Let's play a FREE Cyburbia version in 2005!.

Post your list of 10 celebrity deaths for 2005. I'll sticky this and close the thread at the end of 2004. Sit back and watch 'em drop!

    I'll go first:

    The Pope
    Scott Peterson
    Michael Andretti
    The Governator
    Jenna Bush
    Kevin Bacon
    Billy Graham
    Oprah
    Kate Blanchette
    Marylin Manson

There are many similar names on everyone's list -- nearly everybody's got the Pope.

Here's a suggestion -- how 'bout having everyone rank their list 1-10 from most likely to croak next year to least likely, and then come 12/31/05 we tally up points? That way, you get big points for the unexpected death that only you predicted, and minimal points for the death everyone saw coming.

We have done that with side bets, but I wanted to keep the cyburbia version simple.

Well, the way it should be done is everyone puts in a dollar for every guess they make. At the end of the year, the pot gets divided among everyone who died equally. So if there are three people who died and $30 in the pot, $10 goes on each person.

If you're the only one who guessed one of the people, you get all $10 for that person. If two people guessed him, they both get $5. If 20 people guessed the pope, they each get $0.50.

    Two more suggested rules:

    No changing your list Budgie

You can guess more than 10 people (and add people later) but you have to pay a dollar for each. If you guess 50 people you owe $50.

I am too broke to play... but I don't think that the pope would die this year because of World Youth Day.

The last time that this happened, the popes health was considerably better during the activities than it was before.

Alright call me parinoid, but if

    Dick Cheney
    Gerald Ford
    or others

are killed, murdered or die in some mysterious way would you be a target of the investigation by suggesting that they will die, especially if they die in a specific month or day and they actually do.

Just a thought that crossed my parinoid little mind in this day and age of ever reducing freedoms.

    Henry Kissinger
    Pat Robertson
Oral Roberts (especially if his fundraising campaign is disappointing)
King Fahd of Saudi Arabia (you think gasoline is expensive now!)
