Although definitely a lefty, I've found interesting some (not all, mind you, but some) of the beliefs/statements of our resident "conservatives" vis a vis the current loony tunes neocon/religious right Grand Coalition.

I vote pretty solidly Democrat, but I could have easily seen myself voting for an Ike in 1952 or a Nixon in 1968 (given what people knew about Nixon in '68, of course, not what they know now). They didn't start rolling the weirdos out until Reagan. Ike was probably one of the best presidents in American history (the interstate system aside).

Fiscal conservatism would be nice. In all fairness, I miss the Democrats of yesterday as well. Specifically, I miss Moynihan. I'd like to see his rant on the pussyfooting Dems as well. I've voted for Democrats more than Republicans.
