Trading Can Be Done as Noted!

    Here is what I propose.

With 3 keepers, people may want to make some off season trades, and they usually work better if people can also move draft picks. I suggest this:

    1) Trades have equal numbers of players and picks. If I trade a player for a #3 pick, I send back a player and a lower pick. (Like the last pick #16)

    2) Trades are posted here in this forum for a week. Unless there is some formal protest consisting of several other coaches, they are processed by the commissioner. (I'll keep a list of teams players and draft order as trades happen.)

    Does this sound good?

UPDATE: Measure passes. (NH can open his thread now...)

Sounds like a workable plan to me.

So, your current roster is locked in, and you can trade anyone during the off season. Then next fall you pick your three keepers. Sounds like fun!

That's it exactly... One day we might want more keepers, too. It adds to the wild trading in the off-season.

I'm game for anything. I've got several players that are possible trade bait, but.......

.....what about trading two players for one? Or, how about packaging a player and a lower draft pick for a higher draft pick?

I have a surplus of pretty good players that might be able to be packaged together to leverage a super-stud from a team that needs depth.

It seems that trading "equal number of players and picks" would preclude this. Please enlighten me.

No no... Package it however you want. If you have one good player and want two back, add a "throw in". Like a D player you aren't keeping.

Same with draft picks. If you want to trade your #1 for someone's #2 and #3, than make it your #1 and #16 for his #2 and #3.

This way you always have X players and Y picks. So when the draft starts, you don't end up with too many people on your roster.

Example. Say I want to trade Priest Holmes for a #1 and #2 pick. I also send my #15 & #16, and get back Joe Smeaux the placekicker, who is not a "keeper".

    Gotcha. Makes sense now.

I'm cool with it. Anybody want to package a deal for Kelly Holcomb?

Hey, I figure maybe the Roughriders might want to take a chance with an all-Seahawks lineup for next year...
