What Tours/Workshops/Events are you taking in at APA?

Another sticky perhaps? (C'mon Nerudite... make it sticky for me again!)

    I'm considering:

    Workshops 27 41 70 79 83* 86 88
    Events P101* P104 (I'm never up early enough for a 6:45 breakfast...)
    Tours V001 V003 V006 V008

    *Definate

So, you can either join me or avoid me! What's on your list?

Okay, for El Stupido, clueless folks like me, where can I find out what's available and whether or not a non-member can attend? If I could information like that, I would like to participate in thread -- in spite of the fact that I am still, um, "undecided" about the entire thing...But, hey, it is near me this year and I would be a fool to NOT consider going.

Regular / Planning Board Member $595
    All Other Nonmembers $835

    Or:

    Join for $170 + $595 = $765

I'd venture anyone can go... Of course, you can just come visit, too. But, it seems there are many GIS related sessions...

Thank you. Given how garbled my comments were due to lack of sleep, I am surprised you figured out what I was asking.

Know what? I've never been to a conference where they check people at the door for sessions. Dinners and stuff, yeah, but not sessions... Who'd know the difference?

If I don't sign up for the conference, I thought I would at least sneak onto the exhibit floor. I can't imagine anybody getting upset by that.

Maybe they have an Un-gay district for the weirdos who are straight...

And maybe I shouldn't post this if I ever want to set foot there again and live.

I need help with the program

This is a timely thread Mastiff. I have have found the program in the online registration very confusing. I would have expected to see somewhere, a single view of the program detailing plenary sessions (maybe there aren't any) key note speakers and the time slots for the concurrent sessions. There doesn't seem to be one. I sent an inquiry to their APA help service and they directed me to the "What's New" button - it lists keynotes but doesn't give the single view of the program I would have liked to see. Does such a thing exist?

MZ, as Mastiff points out it is cheaper to join and register as a member than register as a non-member. Could all Cyburbians now please address me as Rem, MAPA. I joined last night. And if you live OS, membership is only $147 as there is no division fee.

The sessions I have tentatively ticked are, S019, S017, S424, S425, S430, S439, S440, S526, S448, S639, S460, and S466. Some run concurrently so I will have to make a choice. I tried to check my choices against yours Mastiff but we seem to be using different guides - none of your numbers come up on my lists.

    Congrats!

Yeah, I have a little time to think about it and a WHOLE LOT of things to think about. The (army) bureaucracy that seems to kind of like me and hate my husband has decreed "Thou shalt be delayed": it looks like my husband will be here for another several months, of an indeterminate amount. This and some other factors take some financial pressure off of us and take a lot of time pressure off of me. I only learned all this today -- we have been in limbo in a big way for some weeks and finally have News and the news is: "more limbo", . So he and I are both talking about taking classes in January as it seems there will be the time and the money for it.

So, I have until January 13th (I think) to pay at the cheapie rate for the APA conference and it gets more expensive after that. Frankly, until a couple of days ago, I wasn't sure I would be well enough to want to go. But I suddenly feel like my brain is occasionally hitting on all cylinders, something it hasn't done in probably 5 years. Oh, and when I went to the laundromat tonight, my pants were threatening to fall off of me. I don't really know how to explain the significance of that. I do not and cannot "diet" and never really could, because I suffer such terrible blood sugar problems. Um, it just seems clear to me that a functioning brain + pants falling off of me = major turning point in my health.

Is that TMI??? I just don't know at the moment. (Brain NOT firing on all cylinders just now.)

Went through the program....not doing any of the MW's or tours. I'll explore on my own.

I have typically not done the tours unless they can get me into some place where the general public is not allowed (or if they include free beer). Like NHP, I plan a few excursions of my own. Wine country, the Presidio, wine country, maybe some biking around the city, wine country, Carmel and wine country come to mind.

Last time APA was in San Fran, I rented a bike with a few friends, and biked over the GG bridge and into Saucilito (sp?) for a day. Lots of fun, and challenging terrain for novice bikers like myself! (Ended up taking the ferry back to the city)

Mine were tours/workshops/events. You need a book.

I take them because the city pays for them... I think I've earned a trip to Alcatraz. In more ways than one.

If you guys are biking, count me out... If you're getting up a trip to wine country, I'm in.

Yeah... the gangs there are brutal... if you're not careful, you could get a French manicure by gunpoint.

I'd ask APA to mail you one. Since obviously they don't have all the info online.

I'm still tryingto figure out if I should venture out on some of the Mobile workshops that are applicable to my job, or step outside and go on ones that I may find interesting. I was asked to go tothe "mechanics of Code Writing" session. Riiight. Let me get back to you on that one.

I have marked the following, but still need to finalize, eliminate conflicts, etc:
    MW 1
    MW 50
    MW72

    W101

    S012, 017, 460, 472, 481, 523
