    NO Rookie Draft This Year!

Like last year, people are wondering about a rookie draft. With only three keepers, the "first" round this year should be filled with veterans. (I play a six keeper league, and rookies go in out "first" round.) That said, should we hold the rookie draft before the regular draft, and should it "snake", or be opposite from the regular draft.

UPDATE! With 9 votes, there will be no rookie draft.

Rookie draft should be normal with the order #16 is first pick, #1 is last pick.

    Just like the real draft

I would agree if we had more keepers, but I think this gives the overwhelming advantage to the #16 team and other low teams. At least this way we would be able to soften the blow for being a champ yet not being able to keep half your team.

I think I'd be more inclined to not have a rookie draft if it goes that way, and just let the rooks fall in where they may... Especially if we end up NOT having a snaking draft...

(I wonder why Joe voted for normal... does he realize he'll pick his rookie at the #13 spot instead of #4?)

I think the rookie draft should be the reverse order of the standings, just like the regular draft. The team who finished last should have the first pick in both the veteran and rookie drafts. I realize I'll pick late in both rounds. That's fine with me. Let the non-playoff teams have the best picks in any draft.

ya, it'll give those who had a hard time last year a chance to win a couple more games. Besides.. the rookies don't always pan out. (E. Manning)

Since I'm in the middle, it doesn't have much impact on me. That said, I'm with Joe, the more competitive the league, the more fun it is, IMO.

I'd agree with the three of you if there were more than 3 keepers.... Lots of talent will be dropping back into the pool. Having both the rookie draft and a normal draft will give more of an advantage than you might think...

Of course, we could up the amount of keepers!

we could, as long as we don't have to have that many keepers. I mean, I could drop my whole team if I'd like. I don't want to be forced to retain 6 or however many players.

Some leagues do that. Keep as many as you like, but you declare them before the draft. Keep 6, and your first pick is in the 7th round.

I'll add it to the poll.

Holy moley. My head is hurting just thinking about all the options. On second thought, maybe my head is still hurting from my back-to-back super bowl thumpings. A few more losses, and I'll have to change my team name to the Minnesota Vikings (sorry, purple people eaters)

Anyway, I voted normal for both drafts to give the teams at the bottom a definitive advantage going into the new season. It seems fair, fun, and challenging.

No rookie draft this year. I think now with keepers and a likely "normal" draft, let 'em fall where they may.

I wonder how many who voted "snaking" would change to "no rookie draft"... I know I'd change my vote.

I would have no problem with eliminating the rookie draft.

No rookie draft is fine with me as well.

That's 8 "no rookie draft" votes in the thread. One more, and I'll close it, and kill the rookie draft...
