    Cash proffers for police?

Anyone fund police staffing with cash proffers? Fire has their method for funding new staff and stations, but police depts don't have the same hard numbers for their services. In fact, most of the public services (parks, schools, libraries, etc) are funded via proffer. Residential growth in our county is exploding and we need to provide coverage for the new areas, but it will be difficult to keep up with the pace of development.

    Any creative suggestions?

Also, if anyone has codified crime prevention criteria (into their zoning ordinance), PLEASE let me know!

    Thanks

Not all areas have the development approval in return for bribes (er, proffers) policy as Virginia has. But if you are going that route, I am certain a formula could be worked out on how many additional officers each type of development needs for adequate service levels.
