LadyBuc is going to the Jimmy Buffett concert with me next month. Even if RJ had been here at the time, he wouldn't have gone... There is something freaky about living in FL over the age of 40 and not liking Buffett.... I haven't seen him in concert since senior year at U of FL and I won't even begin to name the year. Great show. My brother and I mixed screwdrivers in salad dressing bottles and shoved them in deep pockets and got in.

I would have gone but I'm not wasting PTO hours for him.

    Wasted away again in Margaritaville...
Ho hum.....you and LadyBuc have fun.

I'm not getting any older. Unlike some Cyburbians. Your Mom still wanting to take me to the Country Club next weekend? Shall I bring my clubs?

I'm a moron, aren't I? You and your mother are sweethearts to me. Thanks.

I'm not old and I like Buffet I actually lived in Livingston, MT which Livingston Saturday Night was written about when I was just out of high school.

This modest man's little folk show is taking over the world. When the "WoodSongs Old-Time Radio Hour" began in 1999, one college radio station carried it. This week it has nearly 500 radio affiliates and a new deal with XM Satellite Radio. Next month a filmed version of the show hits PBS.

I was wondering if anyone else around here has a Last.fm profile, it'd be great to have a Cyburbia group (searched and found none) there just to see what everyone else listens...

My profile is quite new so the amount of songs "scrobbled" is quite small, but it'll be getting better in the future. Linky

    So check it out.

I might go down for the Boston Police show at Fenway - my brother in law will be trying to get tickets - saw them in a little bar called The Lost Horizon in Syracuse NY in 1979 (my friend's brother was the bouncer so he let us in the side door) - then I saw the technicolor dreamcoat tour in 1983 at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse so it was a 180 from the smoky bar show I saw - so yeah, it'd be fun to see them again as a bunch of old farts like me!

I came in here to boast that Donald Fagen won a Grammy for Morph the Cat release for surround sound - they (Steely Dan in whatever form they are in) always win the engineering awards, it's great stuff - TOFB, did ya notice that?

and my new favorite band, Zero 7, was nominated but did not win, but that's cool they were nominated because they are pretty underground

l p, I have to admit I've only heard bits 'n pieces. I'll pick it up this week and give it a listen with our guitar player when gig-bound.

BTW, we were talking on the way home last weekend (3 am) about The Fez. What the hell is up with that song? Anti-Muslim rant? Kinky indulgence?

    Do you know?

of course I know - as is typical, it's a sexual reference - from The Steely Dan Dictionary:

Fez: A type of brimless hat, usually made from red felt with a tassel on top. Worn by men in the Middle East, or in the US by Shriners (a fraternal lodge organisation) during festivities. Islamic in origin, the hat is named after the holy city of Fez, Morocco. In an uncharacteristic bout of transparency, Becker and Fagen have admitted that "fez" in the context of the song is intended as a slang term for "condom" (and it's not too hard to imagine why).

    Lyrics:

    THE FEZ

No I'm never gonna do it without the fez on
    Oh no
No I'm never gonna do it without the fez on
    Oh no
    That's what I am
    Please understand
I wanna be your holy man

No I'm never gonna do it without the fez on
    Oh no
Ain't never gonna do it without the fez on
    Oh no
    That's what I am
    Please understand
I wanna be your holy man

No I'm never gonna do it without the fez on
    Oh no
Don't make me do it without the fez on
    Oh no
That's what I am please understand

    Drums: Bernard Purdie
    Bass: Chuck Rainey
    Guitar: Jeff Mironov, Dean Parks
    Guitar solo: Walter Becker
    Piano: Michael Omartian
Backing vocals: Leslie Miller, Casey Sysik, Florence Warne

Should we send the men in the white coats tomorrow or Thursday????

In the car I'm listening to the Swingin' Utters - "...Streets of San Francisco..." and "A Juevenille Product of the Working Class" burned onto a single CD. Also listening to Defiance, Ohio's "The Great Depression". The Utters are great, and The Defiance, Ohio stuff you can download legally for free .

At work I mostly listen to this GR2: The Punk Phase because it's all my music anyhow

Lay it on me... ROCK IT OUT! (News from ZMan)

Rush will be releasing their new album Snakes and Arrows on May 1st.

    A tour to follow....
You get all squeezed up inside/Like the days were carved in stone/You get all wired up inside/And it's bad to be alone

You can go out, you can take a ride/And when you get out on your own/You get all smoothed out inside/And it's good to be alone

Some of their tickets went on presale yesterday. To get the presale code, you need to pay $100 on the Police's website. Talk about money hungry! I find it very disappointing. So many loyal fans over the years, and they have to go through extremes to pad their pockets even more.

At least Ozzy is giving free concerts this year. I'm not a huge fan, but you have to admire that he wants to give something back.

Oh yeah... and only 10 days till my next Wolfmother concert. Hope the 2nd is as good as the first!
