    Qunicy, IL?
I'm sorry. Is my bias showing?

From the trolley's destination and the general shape of the place, I'd guess Milwaukee, WI.

Not Milwaukee, river is in the wrong place and there are no mountains anywhere near.

    I would guess Allentown, PA

Not Allentown. The Delaware is in a pretty steep valley, and Allentown is a bit farther away from the river.

    My guess is Wheeling, WV.

    Elmira, New York.

Only because I googled - never heard of the place.

Correct, but what did you Google?

    Here's a couple more views:

I googled "Andrew F Werdenberger" from the building and found his obiturary from the 1920's. It said he owned a business on Water Street which matched up with the trolley. Then I looked at a map of Elmira NY to make sure it had a river with lots of islands.

I hope its ok that I cheated - I never won one of these before

No, that's perfectly OK. I usually try and block out any telltale signs that would give the city away - but I thought that one was too obscure and let it slip through.

I guess I'll have to start blocking out parts of names to keep one step ahead of teh Googlers!
