    Moving Day.....again

Well, today is the day that I move for the second time in less than a year. Glad I did not acquire too much stuff.

Will be off line for a day or two until the new services are set up.

Now to study for the GMAT and get into grad school and find a job.

Good luck in the move. I hope everything makes it to it's new location safe and sound, especially the bikes.

What part of the GTA are you moving to? Wherever it is, it's gotta' be better than some nowhere town that sees itself as cosmopolitan because it has a Canadian Tire store.

    Good luck on the move

Moving right into the City itself, the neighbourhood is just east of High Park and south of Bloor. 2 blocks to a huge park, 15 minute walk to the subway, 2 blocks to a streetcar line, 10 minute bike ride to the lakeshore. It is a mix of detached and detached that have been converted into apartments. These were some big houses back in the day.

I'll borrow a digital camera and take pictures of it and post over the next few weeks.

Look forward to seeing some pics. I moved twice in less than a year, and I'm thinking about moving on again! I've still got a few boxes in the corner of my lounge. Rent is too high, impeding my savings for more travel and a house of my own!

You kind of get used to moving and become good at it!

    Hope it goes smoothly

I have moved every year for the past 5 years, and I will be moving again soon in a couple months.
Good luck with everything, lift with your knees, not your back.
You get all squeezed up inside/Like the days were carved in stone/You get all wired up inside/And it's bad to be alone

You can go out, you can take a ride/And when you get out on your own/You get all smoothed out inside/And it's good to be alone

I hope you have no problems with your move, and please do post pics when you can. Hope this time you won't have to move out so quickly.

Good luck - make Tranplanner take the bottom end of the heavy boxes going up the stairs, it will be good therapy for his knee.

Moving is not that bad. I have moved 3 times in the last 8 months. Living out of boxes is just great.

    Move Update

Donk is now officially "moved-in" (well, one more carload of stuff to come). We had fun getting the oak dining table and queen-size mattress up the tight twisty staircase (thank god his unit wasn't on the top floor!). It's a nice cozy place - but I think it needs a bit of work to turn it into a real swingin' bachelor pad.

Well, I am nearly in, teh phone and computer lines are up and running.

Only thing that happened, so far in the move is that I borrowed my sister's van and she has a roof rack with extensions on it and i knocked the rack out of kilter on the van and took out a set of phone lines as teh drive way is super narrow. Good news, is that no one has come to tell me I killed their phones, yet.

Now to find a desk and some better kitchen chairs.

As for a swingin' bachelor pad, I'll work on it for you all. I'll try to post some pics in teh next few weeks.

Now to find the beer and liquor stores, a dry cleaner and a shoe repair place. Already have a bike shop, owned by a friend of a friend.

Thnaks for the good wishes, now to ace the job interview I have next week and the GMAT.

Great news donk. Best wishes with the interview and the GMAT.

    Off-topic:
When I worked for Bekins, we pulled down a low-hanging cable tv wire after we made a pick-up. Pre-cell phone days, we waited a bit then drove off. We were in the left lane waiting to turn onto Routes 1/9 in New Brunswick, NJ when the cops pulled us over. We got ticketed for leaving the scene of an accident. The cop also wanted to ticket us for destruction of private property but we explained that all wire are suppoed to be a minimum of 14.5' above ground. The jerk actually got out a tape measure and measured our height (12.5'). I clearly remember standing on the frame of the tractor between the cab and the trailer holding the tape in place while the cop stood inches from traffic whizzing by on 1/9. I think the fine was something like $125.
