Tuesday, a co-worker and I went to a meeting in Gainesville FL and while taking back roads home, stopped at Cross Creek, the home of Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings ("The Yearling"). The home was closed to visitors, but the grounds were open, so we strolled about for a bit and peered in the windows.
I think this was the first time I've been to the home of a famous author; strange, since I'm such an avid reader. Altho' I did once have a very contentious zoning meeting with the husband of one of my favorite mystery authors.
