ABC Evening News - traffic look/see

All this week (2-14 - 2-18) ABC News, on their Evening News, has been doing a special report on traffic congestion. Since it is only about five (5) minutes each night it certainly doesn't get any kind of in-depth coverage.

Tonight, Peter Jennings was broadcasting from Houston. Of course, as the special report was going on they were flashing films of Houston's legendary traffic.

    I sure like Toledo.

I'm guessing the other metro areas will be (in order of worst traffic):

    LA
    Washington
    NY
    SF

NY? I think Atlanta and Dallas belong in there over NYC.

I wish there was a spot in their where we could tell them to ride their freaking bikes, and it will get them out of the car.

I'm amazed that the Miami-Broward-Palm Beach MSA isn't represented in this list!

The Automobile Association of America today released a report on the nation's worst traffic areas:

    The 101/405 Interchange, Los Angeles
    The 710 Freeway, Los Angeles
The Reagan Memorial Tollway/Eisenhower Expressway Exchange, Chicago
    The "Mix Master," Dallas
    The 520 Bridge, Seattle
    The Downtown Connector, Atlanta
    The I-495/270 Interchange, Washington, D.C.
Interstate 93 Out of the Hub, Boston
    Major Interchanges, Salt Lake City
George Washington Bridge Exit, New York City

I'll take my 15 minute commute on a 2 lane blacktop over some of those areas. Yikes.

Have you ever tried to get into Manhattan from either the Lincoln or Holland Tunnels or the GW Bridge? How about the Belt Pkwy/Sunshine Hwy? in Brooklyn, Queens and Long Island? Even though NYC has the highest daily transit ridership in the country, believe me NYC and its environs have a serious problem with traffic congestion.

Ha, I agree. Why is NYC never near the top of these most traffic lists? I've been stuck in Belt Pkwy traffic at 2am several times..actually never had a smooth ride there. DC is usually ranked really high on those lists too, which I dont understand because that city seems to only experience rush hour traffic (just noticing from personal experience).
