    Girl power!

    News story here today...

Women now occupy NZ's top three positions

Forget about women being able to do anything. The problem now vexing some men is that women appear to be doing everything.

Margaret Wilson completed the takeover of New Zealand's top constitutional posts yesterday with her election as Parliament's Speaker. Her elevation alongside Governor-General Dame Silvia Cartwright, Prime Minister Helen Clark and Chief Justice Sian Elias means the country is now officially being run on girl power.

This equality stuff has gotten completely out of hand. I demand all you women take take them shoes off, be with child, and get thee to the kitchen! Now, dang it!

Runs, in a manly way, for cover.

    Ha ha!

    Further through the article...

Mr Hide acknowledged that it was a "proud day" for New Zealand to have women holding the top constitutional posts. But he also appeared to speak for many of Parliament's male MPs, when he expressed a hope that Ms Wilson "see a place for men in this House still".

Progressive leader Jim Anderton also admitted to a "slightly sinking feeling of inferiority" with the elevation of another woman to the constitutional hierarchy.

    Please stop this now...

I'm having REAL problems with a female coucilor who proclaims "girl power", and then, believing she knows everything, harms council harmony and hurts the momentum of much needed projects.

I don't care what you have between your legs, as long as what's between your ears can get the job done.

    Additionally:

It's obvious Anderton has issues, being that he bases his worth on the sex of people in power with or above him.

Hahaha! Now that the shoe is on the other foot....

That's awesome for NZ. I daresay it'll take us quite a while to catch up in the US.

I agree completely. That's how these women got to these positions. They are all highly intelligent and well-respected.

However, given historical trends for male dominance of positions of power, it is noteworthy that this trend is changing, and these women are a clear representation of this. It's worth celebrating.

I used the term 'girl power' in a somewhat joking way... it's a silly term

I'm with Mastiff... as long as they do the job well, there's no reason why they shouldn't be there.

In any way.. women TEND to be more peaceful and fair than men... Of course there's lots of exceptions.

Too bad the distance between Chile and NZ isn't as little as between Cuba and the US, otherwise, there would be lots of rafts comming your way.

Right now that term puts me just a degree or two seperated from homicidal behavior...

Skel... I think that you need to meet more women. I sit back and think of last night at a BB game and watched two girls get into it over a guy... it was like watching Jerry Springier!

Woman 1"OH OH OH, tell me you are not eyeing my man!"
Woman 2"I will slap that little bi*(^y smile off your S&^K face."
Woman 1 "OH OH OH YOU DIDN JUST CALL ME A S&^K"
Woman 2 "WELL YOU ARE H&#E"
    (very dirty fight breaks out)

Springer women do not or should not get into high positions of power due to their incredible stupidity both intelectual and/or emotional.

I don't think Hellen Clack can classify as a Springer woman.

Shouldn't this thread be titled "Why New Zealand is going to hell"?

I mean think about what might happen if they all get PMS on the same day

You get all squeezed up inside/Like the days were carved in stone/You get all wired up inside/And it's bad to be alone

You can go out, you can take a ride/And when you get out on your own/You get all smoothed out inside/And it's good to be alone

In dorms at all women's colleges they all get the "dorm syndrome" and start cycling together. Really.

Ah, but the question is - who in particular does everyone adjust their cycles to sync with - the alpha female? Seriously.
People will miss that it once meant something to be Southern or Midwestern. It doesn't mean much now, except for the climate. The question, “Where are you from?” doesn't lead to anything odd or interesting. They live somewhere near a Gap store, and what else do you need to know? - Garrison Keillor

OT: What if all the Goddesses are in sync during the Jax laefest? That could get ugly.
