    Good News - New Job

Since all of you have been so supportive of my misadventures in job hunting and have provided great advice to me I want to thank you all and let you know I have a new job starting the end of March. I know I said I had given up on planning, but looking in other fields was not going so well, so I kept applying and interviewing in the field.

It is a planning policy job in a suburban city's Urban Design Section. This is a great opportunity for me and will hopefully make me happy. If it does not, it will definitely show me that planning is not for me. Best thing is no more processing rotten applications from rednecks and hillbillies, just have to deal with the "mafia".

Still plan on doing the GMAT.

Thanks, and first round at the next TO laefest is on me, or if I make it to a laefest, anywhere, the first round is on me. Time to go buy a a pair of new jeans and a few other things for my new job.

    Congrats on the new job

Did you use Jeff as a reference?

    [cue music from "The Godfather"]

As I jokingly put it to Donk, they made him an offer "he couldn't refuse". Make sure you add a couple of double-brested pin-stripe suits to the wardrobe, and maybe a fedora.

Congrats on the new job. Even if it is sprawl-central

Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here?

    Congrats!!!!!

I hope the position is less day-to-day paper pushing and real substantive long range planning.

Good luck......go find yourself some Maus fan female hottie at an indie bookstore.
I'm sorry. Is my bias showing?

Let's not be didactic in this profession, because that is a path to disillusion and irrelevancy.

Congrats!!! This *is* good news. Hopefully this will be your own little planning niche

Mafia, eh? Any chance this 'burb starts with a 'G'? My boss worked for a G-city in Ontario and he has lots of funny mafia stories. I hear sometimes the mafia is good for helping in enforcement issues

Congrats! I'll hoist a Molson in your hono(u)r tonite!!!

That's great news, come out to CO when you get time off and some cash, we can ride bikes to some breweries!
You get all squeezed up inside/Like the days were carved in stone/You get all wired up inside/And it's bad to be alone

You can go out, you can take a ride/And when you get out on your own/You get all smoothed out inside/And it's good to be alone

No rerelocation needed. When I moved from "banjo country" to the big bad city, I made sure I chose I neighbourhood that was relatively easy to get in and out of.

Fortunately it is a priamrily a reverse commute. Distance is about 20 miles from my place. And sorry no I won't be bike commuting as the roads are crazy. If I wanted to/had to I could take public transit, but then the commute would be about 2 hours each way.
