    Urban Planning Reading Lists

The University of Michigan College of Architecture + Urban Planning has a Summer Reading List to help urban planning students. What do you think? Any other good lists out there? The Bookstore link on Cyburbia has 1,084 books listed. I never knew there were so many planning-related books out there.

Wow. Thats alot of reading for one summer I'd be burned out by the time school starts in September.

I like planetizen's top 20 of all time....my favorite list I"ve seen so far.

The "Summer Reading List" is a good one, but that'll definitely be a long summer.

APA has an Essential Planning Library list: http://www.planning.org/resources-k/...iallibrary.htm. A lot of crossover with the Michigan and Planetizen lists, but also a lot of practice-oriented books. (And lots of books published by the APA that they will gladly sell you.)

There's also a list of selected readings for those taking the AICP exam: http://www.planning.org/certification/selectedread.html. It has a couple pretty good overview books on ethics, theory, land use law, and design.
