    Economic impacts of highway projects

Has anyone in Cyburbia ever done an economic analysis on highway projects. I know that there are tons of materials on TODs but what about highway projects. I am working on some independent research on how highway projects in MD has shaped or are shaping the economy of the community immediately adjacent to the improvement. I am looking at three types of projects; a streetscape, an interchange and a major road widening or relocation. Perhaps one or many Cyburbian super sleuths can point me in the right direction of existing studies done conducted elsewhere in the country or Canada. Thanks for your help.

By coincidence, I came across a publication in my library today, entitled " Assessing the Economic Impact of Transportation Projects." It is available as a pdf on the Transportation Research Board's web site, www.trb.com. Circular Number 477, published in 1997.

Thanks. This will help me get started with my problem statement and methodology.

Here is another one I came across - more oriented to enhancements, though.
