I remember a story from a few years back about a town that agreed to purchase? or buy shares in surrounding farms as a sort of joint venture with the farmers......Money was collected in the form of a tax? or fee? to support the local farming operations (maybe by lease-partnership agreement) and every household was guaranteed fresh produce through the season. It ended up working well and the residents had some control over the surrounding farms staying in place, not to mention the large amounts of vegi's/fruit available to everyone (often too much food).
The companion story was about collective farming practices in Mexico/Central America where this has been working fairly well over the past decade or more......I can't remember the name of the town....do a web search.....good luck.....![]()
