I get delirious whenever you're near
Lose all self control baby just can't steer
    Wheels get locked in place
    Stupid look on my face

in honor of unnamed people in an unnamed karaoke bar in an unnamed city attending an unnamed conference, I offer the following:

    Don't Stop Believing...

    More than a Feeling...

    He's a Magic Man...(the whoa-whoa's too, yes)

    Shotgun

Watched part of "In The Shadows of Motown" the other night. Couldn't get "Shotgun" by Junior Walker and the All Stars out of my brain for a long time.

    I said, shotgun
Shoot 'em 'fore he runs, now
“Death comes when memories of the past exceed the vision for the future.”

This doozie has been running through my head the past few days:

Tried to amend my carnivorous habits
    Made it nearly seventy days
Losin' weight without speed, eatin' sunflower seeds
Drinkin' lots of carrot juice and soakin' up rays

But at night I'd had these wonderful dreams
    Some kind of sensuous treat
Not zucchini, fettucini or Bulgar wheat
But a big warm bun and a huge hunk of meat

    Chorus:
    Cheeseburger in paradise (paradise)
Heaven on earth with an onion slice (paradise)
Not too particular not too precise (paradise)
I'm just a cheeseburger in paradise

    Ode to Iceland

    I don't know
    I don't know
    I don't know where I'm a-gonna go
    When the volcano blows.

this song is in my head and I can't get it out - I really like it but it's also annoying all at once (plus it's so unlike me to like a crossover country song too )

    Need you now

Picture perfect memories scattered all around the floor
Reachin for the phone cause I can't fight it anymore
And I wonder if I ever cross your mind
For me it happens all the time

It's a quarter after one, I'm all alone and I need you now
Said I wouldn't call but I lost all control and I need you now
And I don't know how I can do without
    I just need you now

Another shot of whiskey can't stop looking at the door
Wishing you'd come sweeping in the way you did before
And I wonder if I ever cross your mind
For me it happens all the time

It's a quarter after one, I'm a little drunk and I need you now
Said I wouldn't call but I lost all control and I need you now
And I don't know how I can do without
    I just need you now

    SHARK!

    Da dun
    da dun, da dun
da dun, da dun, da dun, da dun

[guess who played the solo in a new chart on Saturday]

da dun, da dun, da dun, da dun, da dun, da dun, da dun, da dun
    ....

Great Movie Themes, most of 'em by John WIlliams. Sitting next to me was a horn player who's graduated to Eb tuba, and he was reading off the Eb bari sax part. And watching my music with envy. (I have a different rehearsal this week, so he gets to play the good part.)

da dun, da dun, da dun, da dun, da dun, da dun, da dun, da dun, da dun, da dun, da dun, da dun, da dun, da dun, da dun, da dun...

Just think it could be worse. You could have "All in a golden afternoon" from Disney's 'Alice in Wonderland' stuck in your head after watching it with your 4 y.o. (like I have for the past 22 hours)

    Don't believe me? Youtube it.

How ever did I get a song like that stuck in my brain?

Here, let me change it for you.

It's a small world after all...

    Waterloo, Waterloo
Where will you meet your Waterloo?
    Every puppy has its day
    Everybody has to pay
Everybody has to meet his Waterloo

Now old Adam was the first in history
With an apple he was tempted and deceived
Just for spite the Devil made him take a bite
And that's when old Adam met his Waterloo

In 1814 we took a little trip
Along with Colonel Jackson down the mighty Mississip
We took a little bacon and we took a little beans
And we caught the bloody British in the town of New Orleans
“Death comes when memories of the past exceed the vision for the future.”

I do too but report back tomorrow when you're still singing it.

it's not annoying, but once it's in, you can't get it out

automatic, systematic, full of color, self-contained, tuned and gentle to your vibes.

TRUE. One time I had Led Zep's 'Kashmir' stuck in my head and went around even the next day saying 'hey, it's not so bad - if you're gonna get a song stuck in your head make it a good one'. After the third day, though, 'Kashmir' began to exist on the same plane as the Empire Carpet phone number jingle.

    I like pizza; I like bagels;
I like hotdogs with mustard and beer.
I'll eat eggplant. I could even eat a ba-a-by deer.
La- la- la- la- la- la- la- la la- la-
Who's that baby deer on the la-awn there?

Unenlightened shadows cast down through all eternity, the crying of humanity.
'Tis then when the Hurdy Gurdy Man comes singing songs of love,
Then when the Hurdy Gurdy Man comes singing songs of love.
Hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, gurdy he sang.
Hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy.
Hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, gurdy he sang.
Hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, hurdy gurdy, gurdy he sang...

This is the song that never ends...
Yes it goes on and on my friend...
Some people started singin it not knowin what it was...
But they'll continue singin it forever JUST because...
This is the song that never ends...
Insanity in individuals is something rare - but in groups, parties, nations and epochs, it is the rule.

    Sunshine, lollipops and rainbows,
Everything that's wonderful is what I feel when we're together,
    Brighter than a lucky penny,
When you're near the rain cloud disappears, dear,
And I feel so fine just to know that you are mine.

My life is sunshine, lollipops and rainbows,
That's how this refrain goes, so come on, join in everybody!
